on your oil cooler adapter when you tapped it did you tap it for orb fittings or pipe if you tapped it for pipe be carefull you can crack it and not know it the best way is to setup the adapter by getting weld on bungs an welding them to it or tap the holes for orb -10 fittings and anything smaller then -10 you will restrict oil to the engine

that plug is an oil restrictor to slow the oil down through the head

im not really woried about cracking it but I will keep it in mind when I put the fitting in, would not want to endup spilling expensive breakin oil all over the place

Update:
I was looking over the block and inspecting it and I noticed that the place where blkwdoss had taped for the balance delete has burs protruding from the bearing which would do some damage since i plan to run the balance shafts so I ordered the Kent Moore Ecotec L850 Balance Shaft Bearing Remover & Installer Set #J-43650 new off ebay for $32.50 looks like all the bearings are geting replaced now lol also the pistons and rods are due in tuesday and some of the timing componetns for the balance shaft chain guide system came in

So I was checking out the intake ports on the cylinder head and noticed that it is really rough, im suprised GM did not clean it up after the casting process, any who I debured the intake ports and sanded them down until I got to 320 grip paper if I have time before the biuld I will polish them, I would have done it now but I need to get a polishing wheel small enough to get in the ports. you can see in the photo that it is already starting to get that polished reflection with just sanding to 320
now on to my ced order
my new valve cover, came with new seals and bolts
timing cover seal
rod and crank bearings
new LSJ intake gasket and LNF exhaust and turbo gaskets
some timing components
more
rear main seal and girdle bolts

Did some work on the cylinder head today
first I had to mod the exhaust cam cap, for those who dont know the stock exhaust cam from the 2.2 is not long enough to fill the last bearing in the cylinder head leaving an oil port un obstructed. this has to be blocked other wise there will be no oil pressure, while at the same time allowing for future upgrade to LSJ cams. so first milled away part of the cam cap to a flat surface,
then I placed one of the saab cams in place and drilled a hole through the cam cap and the veary top of the cam but not deep enough to penatrate the housing for the cam sensor.
then I slightly enlarged the small hole on the cam
I then taped the cam cap to acomidate a screw, the screw will thread down into the small hole in the cam nub and lock it inplace once I have cut it from the rest of the cam. this alows me to use the 2.2 exhaust cam and still have oil pressure
next since the 2.2 utalizes a coolant sensor in the thermostat housing I dont need the port for one on the front of the cylinderhead so i drilled out the existing threads and taped the hole for 1/4npt which I will later fill with a billet plug
I also removed the SAAB chain thensioner as I have a new one that will be used
then I removed all the plugs so the cylinderhead will get a thuro cleaning at the machine shop
and look what was left in the cylinderhead a set of NGK sparkplugs
I also removed the valve seals as they will be replaced with Viton valve seals
