Well the good news is I got oil pressure. The bad news is I had a slew of other issues arise. Got pretty much all of them sorted out and attempted to start. She wants to start, she is trying. belching fireballs and such. It looks like I may have a coil out of sync. So yeah... no start today

On the bright side I did get to test out my tablet and Shadow Dash MS. Pretty stinking cool I think. Can't wait to make it a permanent part of my cluster.

It would be a project car and I'd probably drop a LSA engine in or it would take a lot of learning the Nissan/Datsun world to pick an engine/trans/axles/etc.

I like old VG's. I've been working on them so long I know the tricks. It's also nice to have so many parts at the junkyard to choose from too. Late 80's turbo Z's and all 90's Z's use some variant of the FS/RS5R30A which is tough as hell. Now axles and stubs on a z31 is the tricky part lol

Thank you sir! It barely runs lol. But it's definitely 100 steps forward! Got a few more things to straighten out. Something is rubbing in the lower timing cover so I need to check that out.

It'll stop rubbing eventually, if you let it

Lol yeah it will. Discovered by pushing on the cover that it is the timing belt tensioner. not sure why its rubbing. Hurray for having to take off the timing cover!

good to see it finally running. looks like about as good as the first startup i had with a megasquirt. dont worry, it gets easier. the only advise i can offer is make sure your ignition settings are 100%. check it with a timing light to be sure. on a boosted engine ignition being correct is key, if its not 100% correct is can easily cost you an engine faster than you can think.

Actually that loud noise is my down pipe leaking. I was screwing with it this morning and was like that sounds like a damn exhaust leak. The donut gasket is leaking. More little issues lol

The car runs... sort of. It will fire and sit there and idle. The catch is I have to have cranking speed set above 700. At 700 it surges big time. 800 is a bit better, 900 even more so... I bumped it up to 1000 just to see what happens and it just sits there and runs pretty happily with no surge. Until I touch the throttle then it freaks out, the pulse width jumps up from like .2 to 16.5 and the afr spike way lean from 13.4 to 19+.

I've dropped the idle and standard ve table way low like single digits in some cells with no change in behavior and pulses. I'm not sure what I'm missing here. She wants to run, I'm just stupid!

your cranking rpm setting should be just a bit higher than actual cranking speed. when you have it up too high its running off the cranking rpm settings. your pulse with is too lean, i doubt the injectors are even opening at .2ms. try richening the ve table, try something like 10-15% at first. also your pw spike might be your acceleration enrichment settings causing that.
