She hit boost tonight for the first time. This turbo is going to be AMAZING. This thing makes my old hoslset look like a slow spooling slug.

4th gear 90% throttle, 15* static timing, super mega pig rich at about 2300 rpm boost is going positive fast.

I got video I'll post it when I get home. For now a picture.

I have a soft spot for cars that do not look like they pack a hefty punch.

Little update. I'm still tuning and working out bugs. I get it to run better and better daily. Since I'm learning and teaching myself how to tune I'm taking my sweet ass time with it lol

Today on the way to work I had a civic hatch screw with me goading me into a race. Now typically I wouldn't as I'm only able to rev to 4K rpm currently due to how rich it is beyond that and have the wastegate spring at 6psi. Finally he annoyed me enough to pull it into 3rd gear and run him. Well poor little civic got smacked down bad by a very disabled car lol

I actually had an MK3 Supra try and run me yesterday but I didn't bite. The rate at which he accelerated away I think it would have been dead even. What is hilarious about this is I almost never have anyone try and race me. I can drive around for months and never even get so much as a second look. Since I've gotten this thing back together I've had a 4th gen v6 Firebird try to race me, 2 Civics and the MK3. It is like they know it is currently disabled.

The car is surprisingly strong even at 6psi. I'm curious to see how it does when I can actually rev it out to 6800. I think it will smack my 350Z around at 6psi lol

So this happened yesterday... Not sure the extent of the damage yet.

Tensioner decided to seize up and it sheared the stud off in the block. Only thing that held it in place was the timing cover. It jumped time. I don't know if it was enough to damage the valve train or pistons. Only 1K miles on the build...

I'm hoping so too. Gotta get the rest of the stud out of the block before I can retime it and compression test.

That's what I'm hoping for. It was still running on its own and really didn't sound bad other than the god awful noises coming from the timing cover

Thank you sir.

I have a new timing belt and tensioner ordered. I'll pick them up this afternoon along with a new stud. I'll try to get it back together this weekend and get the compression/leak down test done. If things go well I'll either have it running by Sunday afternoon or decided on what to do with my new pile of scrap parts.

So I won the mechanical lottery by the timing belt tensioner not destroying my engine but that victory was short lived.

While I had the car apart I used it as an opportunity to install an oil cooler. Well everything went well until I took the car out for a drive to do some datalogging...

The plate/filter combo must have been too heavy. It sheared that filter mount stud right off the pathy adapter... Dumped all the oil about instantly during a 2nd gear pull. I'm pretty sure the bearings are dead so I'll be pulling the engine after all.

Putting new bearings in is no biggie. I am worried about the turbo though. I'm hoping it didn't damage it.
