check to see if there is any play at all in the distributor shaft. any play there can cause all sorts of issues with a trigger wheel pickup. any play in the drive gear could also cause issues. if you can get the sensor closer to the wheel, maybe give that a try. myself, i prefer to run a trigger wheel directly off what its picking up, its far more stable.

something to try as a test would be to wrap the harness in tin foil in the general area were in passes the plug wires.

I'll give that a shot. Also another guy suggested unplugging sensors that are in the area of the trigger harness and see if that makes any difference in the tooth logger. He said he had similar issues and it turned out there was feedback going through his IAT sensor.

Had a little fun today. Got the lost sync issue under control enough I could get into boost a bit. I decided to play around some

Funny enough I loosened the wire harness bundle to get the cas harness free so I can run a shielded cam wire tomorrow. Getting it free of the others seems to have made a big difference

Well I finally got the lost sync stuff fixed. What a headache that was. Long story short, tech support had me chasing my tail! I fixed it accidentally with just one setting in Tunerstudio. Now I just need to throw a bit more timing at it and it'll be pretty viscous.

I had spark time set to 1ms, I changed it to 2ms because it appeared to be what everyone using LSx coils was using.

gotta love and hate when its just a simple setting. way back when i started with my first megasquirt i couldnt get acceleration enrichment working. went more than a week trying to get rid of the acceleration bog, tried everything, had people online baffled. turns out there was a accel enrichment tps threshold setting in a completely unrelated menu, was set at 100%. set it were it should have been (less than 5%) and it worked great. tore my hair out trying to figure that one out though

Yeah #5 rod bearing was about spun. Main bearings show signs of the crank slamming into them as well. Best we can figure is me beating the car trying to solve the lost sync issue. It only happened in upper RPM's in boost so it was quite violent. Sucks but almost 2 solid months of beating it like that I guess took its toll.

Engine is out and apart, going to have all the rods resized to match and have the crank checked/turned. Likely be down a few weeks to a couple months. I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and I really need to buy a beater car of some sort. So much fun!

Well rods and crank are at the machine shop. I have a few things to buy for the Acura to make sure it stays reliable then I'll be gathering the rest of the parts to get the beast back together again. Might be up and running in Sept maybe October. We'll see how things go.

Well the engine is 90% together and sitting back in the car. Hoping to have it started tomorrow, maybe drive it to work.

Car is alive, my hand was forced by a deer colliding with the Acura I'll get the Acura fixed eventually it is mainly cosmetic.

I have about 230 miles on the 300ZX, my tune is way off for some reason. Not sure what changed there so I did some corrections for now and will work on getting it right again once it is broken in fully. I entered it into the local Zfest that is going on November 6-8. Also paid for the model photoshoot so I can make the models lay on my ugly car lol. I hope they have a class for best sleeper.

Took the car to a car show today. Rods N Relics. I didn't win anything, really wasn't expecting too considering it was mainly rat rods but got to run the beast for 4 laps on a 1/4 mile dirt track. A highway monster does not do good on a dirt track but damn if it wasn't fun.

Fun fact, my friend with a supercharged Z24 Cavy made the fastest lap of the day, got a trophy and a 100 bucks for it.

The car is running pretty good. I have a little area on the way home from work that is almost exactly a 1/4 mile long that I use for "testing". After the rebuild my tune was way rich, I almost think I had a small vacuum leak before it changed so drastically. In my test area I was only reaching about 107mph. That is crap. So I went to work on getting my AFR where I wanted it. That got me up to about 114mph in that stretch. Much better but still leaves a lot to be desired. So I decided to throw her a little spark advance. I was running 14* in full boost (15psi) so I bumped her up to 17*, which is still fairly conservative. Well that made a big difference. She was able to sprint to 120mph in that little stretch with just 3* of timing added.

She is now also a tire shredding machine. This engine has way more torque than the old VG30 did. I need more tire now. I need to find wheels though as my 350Z wheels are maxed out. Also next month me and a couple friends are going to rent a dyno for a few hours. I figure I'll do a proper dyno tune on the current 15psi and see what happens. I'd like to break 450whp on 15psi. I'm in no hurry to turn up the boost yet. I figure if I can get 450whp out of it on 15psi, when I crank her up to 20-22psi my 550whp goal should be easily obtained. Not that it'll be able to get traction, since it is a big issue now...

Obligatory photo from a couple weeks ago at the car show I took it too.
