ccfl or led halos???

What are the main differences between the two?? If a ccfl burns out wouldd I just replace a bulb or the whole ring??....I know with leds you just swap out a bulb... idk what do y'all think?

CCFL is way brighter than LED, that's the main thing. Not familiar with CCFL enough to know any other details about them. I know when I had gen3 lights the LED halos were not visible at all during the day, they were more for night.

You you have to replace the whole halo, a CCFL is basically a small fluorescent light like you would see in a garage or store.

Correct.
Though a CCFL will need a transformer, whereas a LED simply needs a resistor.

You'll get more junk behind the headlight but CCFL brightness is worth it. You could also buy just the CCFL ring if you bough already the a LED halo headlights..There is a how to in the site.

Some good ino here haha!...thanks guys!....what I think ill end up doing is just getting led halos to starts...amd when I retrofit ill do ccfl with that. I'm not so much worrried about the brightness as I am about having the colors of the halos and leds match.

Do the ccfl halos match the pure white from the leds in the gens 1s??? Because here's my planned setup...pure white halos and leds, 6000k hid lows, and 6000k switchback led turnsignals. I don't mind if you can't see them during the day, just early morning, and sundown really...

How long have you guys had them for, cause if your going for long term ccfl's are crap. The ballast is not the best that comes with any of these lights. Ill say LED Rings. They dont come with any of the headlights. There something you will have to do on your own and ebay has them all the time. all you need to do is measure the inside diameter and your set. bonus is there alot cheaper. ill even say there brighter. I have them now on my gen 1's after going from a single led to a ccfl kit to the led rings now.

From 3BSpec:

LED vs CCFL Angel Eyes

Advantages of CCFL Angel Eyes

* Plastic shroud emits illuminates a solid light.

* Available in pre-formed shapes for vehicle specific applications.

* Matches CCFL and LED angel eyes on existing projector headlights.

Advantages of LED Angel Eyes

* Simple design allows for easier installation.

* No CCFL inverters, which reduces a failure point.

go take a look at the headlight sticky on here.. i just posted my new project with LEDS..it really depends on the look you are going for. I have run LED and CCFL but my new project incooperates the ring effect with the LED effect..you will get "hot spots" with LED strips so if you are looking for a clean light effect like RickyBobby's ccfl is what your looking for

definitely ccfl, you are loosing your time with leds. eBay My World - retro-solutions are pretty good. I think you gen3 headlight you'll need 100mm and 90mm diameter CCFL halo ring/
