trunk bow tie replacement?

I would like to replace the ugly golf bow tie with one that has been painted black. What is a good method for removing and then re-adhering it back to the trunk?

It is just on there with two sides tape. Pull some fishing line between it and the trunk; they come right off.

Ok, so then putting the bow tie back on, tape emblem glue or what? I plan on spray painting it gloss black and clear coating it, so would two side tape still hold?

They got that double sided tap at auto stores it's red for car badges. If u just tape of the bow tie from your trunk and use some news paper, you don't have to take it off to blast it

Just paint it on the car. It's way easier. Get painters plastic, it's pretty cheap and will let you cover as much of the car as you need all in one go

If you're going to paint it on the car, get a box fan and a 24inch furnace air filter to place on the box fan. Put the fan either above or below to move the over spray away from the car even if you have everything taped well

You will spend 3 times the amount of time to paint the stupid thing on the car than you would popping it off with fishing line and painting it on the ground.
I could easily do 5 in the time it takes to do one on the car...

i agree. just take it off the car.

and for that matter, don't put it back on! looks ugly whether it's gold or black!

if you do paint it i really recommend lightly sanding it with high grit just to rough it up a little and a good rinse off with some dish soap.

3m tape and back on it goes... if you must. haha

i agree, take it off the car because trust me no matter what you do youll end up with over spray somewhere on the car and you may not know but i can guarantee you, take a clay bar to the whole car and youll find over spray. fishing line and a hair dryer go a long way lol. hair dryer helps looses the tape up a little bit. but im with rice just take it off and leave it off lol
