In-cabin fan noise

Well when i have the heat/cool on setting 1,i get a little annoying noise coming from the passanger sides glove compartment area.I guess there is a fan around there. It doesnt make it when u raise the setting to 2,3,4,5,only on 1..Is there anyway to get to the fan and see if something might be stuck in there?I took off the glove compartment, but didnt see anything behind it,just the in-cabin air filter.2005 Cobalt SS/SC

The only way to get the fan out is to cut it out with a razor blade or exacto-knife. I just replaced one under warrenty last week. It actually really sucks. I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you are prepared to buy a new fan kit.

My fan does this also, worse when the heat is on. I'm still under warranty so I guess I need to have it looked at.

Damn you think they would have been able to fix that by now. I've got an 05 and had that problem. When I took it in for warranty work they knew exactly what I was talking about.

One way to prevent premature fan bearing failure is to check/clean/replace your cabin air filter. If it's not white, it's dirty.

I have the same problem. When it is cold and I start my car with the defrost on the fan sounds like it is going to implode. I have had it checked out once and they said there is nothing they can do. I have an appointment this Friday to get that and a couple other issues looked at.

They have replaced my fan 3 times now and the noise is still there. I would suggest that you just get used to it or turn the radio up louder... LOL
