Anybody in Calgary work in a bodyshop?

Hey Guys. I was wondering if anybody in Calgary works in a bodyshop, or has an in somewhere. I need to get my front bumper painted, and I want to try to save some money, or at least get in somewhere soon for a decent price. It just has some gashes on the front passenger side, I think the whole fascia piece just needs needs to be sanded and then just repainted. There are just a few sections that are scraped so the paint is off, and the poly is a little scraped. I am able to take the bumper off and take it to a place, as that may save cost.

If anyone can help at all, please let me know. It would really help me out. The front bumper looks awful.

This won't help, but avoid Varsity Chrysler. I have a friend that works there in the service department and he's a great guy. However, my experience with the body shop was less than satisfactory...

Koo. Thanks Ed. I will file that away with other places that lose my business for being morons. I typically refuse to give my business to dealerships as a general rule anyways. Just rubs me the wrong way watching them give it to you from behind, and saying thank you for a job well done...

btw, you don't happen to have experience in building fiberglass sub boxes by chance?

I can talk to my painter here at work and see if he will do it, I don't see why not though he's painting some body parts for my camaro for just the cost of the paint.

That would be a god send. I want to have my baby looking good for the summer, and not being able to get into any shops, I have resorted to ordering a bra for the front fascia until I can get it fixed.

Anything I can do to save money would be a huge asset.

he said you pay for the paint and he will paint it for 50 bucks but i'm pretty sure I can talk him down to say 30 or so. What kind of time frame are you looking at?

I'm picking it up at the end of the month and then hopefully it'll be installed in mid april. I can't wait to try out the slicks this year.

No rush. The problem is, (and I should have mentioned this earlier) is that the front passenger corner below and just behind the headlight is scraped, and apparently the whole bumper should be sanded down and smoothed.

Here are a couple crappy pictures of what it looks like.

the bumper doesn't look to bad, my brother in law and I can do the prep work that's no problem. Yeah I don't think traction will be an issue anymore, well at the track anyways but on the street i'm going to need some other tires than these crap stockers. I just hope the tranny is going to hold up to everthing I am throwing at it.

Ok. I just need to know how much paint to get, and if I need to get anything else. (Clear coat, primer, etc.)

I imagine I can get matched paint at the parts dept or body shop of any gm dealership?

Let me know when the best time it is to get the ball rolling on this, and btw, whereabouts is this shop?

I'll find out how much paint and other stuff you'll need but i'm sure that if you get the paint I can spare some clear coat and primer from my camaro. The shop is down in the s.e just off 72nd ave and 40st. I'll see what kind of time my brother in law has to help with the prep work and then we'll go from there.

Sweet. I can't thank you enough. And thats a quick trip from my office.

If you need help with those axles, I'm sure I can lend a hand, I had to remove one of mine to get my header in. I know how to refill the tranny fluid, and I have a syringe pump type thing for pumping it back into the tranny.

Didn't have to. You just catch it in a bucket when you pull the axles out, and pump it back in the fill hole when the new axles are in. You can never get all of it back in, but its not necessary, as overfilling it will cause leaks.

Hey guys...

My friend here bought a body kit for his RX-8. He wants to get it installed and painted. Anyone know of a GOOD body shop to do this? I dont think he's too too concerned about the money, just wants a really good job done.
