anyone that has a SRI (short ram intake) -- READ!!

ok, so i popped my hood today, just to clean all the dust and dirty stuff off my valve cover and other things that you can see... so i noticed my k&n short ram filter was VVEERRYY dirty like i emptied a bag of black dirt onto it. (only dirty on the top, not really as dirty around the other sides..) and i noticed that the thing in the pic... (circled in white)

was in pretty bad shape.. keep in mind my car is only a year old, and when i touched this black thing with my hand, these nasty black little fibers were all over my fingers..

anyways, if you get a SRI or have an SRI, take this black thing off!!!! (i think its only for acoustics) i even took my intake off and the inside of my TB was caked with this stuff.. NO WONDER why my rpms sometimes stay at around 2500 when in neutral...

if its too late, like it was for me, i got this stuff at autozone...

and worked like a charm. if this was already talked about, please delete post. but i couldnt find it in a search. just trying to help you guys out a little..

mine holds steady rpms daily in neutral when they should be dropping to idol, I just tap the breaks and the vacume hose reminds it.

might wanna pull that intake off and clean out your tb... i mean, instead of being kind of a pita, i doubt those black fibers are good for combustion and/or sticking to the inside of your intake/tb/head ports/valves/cylinder walls

I would just get an AEM or equivalent filter, then you wouldn't have to worry about crap flowing through your air filter. K&N's are bad for letting crap by, very poor filtering.

And i bought the SS underhood liner like the one shown, and can't wait to get home to put it on!

No, the hood insulator is to keep paint on your hood in the event of very high engine bay temps, and the heat/cool cycle all vehicles experiance. Just a longetivity of your paint thing. Don't expect warranty to cover paint failure on your hood if you take your hood blanket off.

I have an oem airbox witht he vapor thingy removed(did it less than 1k miles ago).

It has been doing it since it was new. I never noticed it until I got my exhaust.
