Lookin' to get a Cobalt SS 2.4 auto

Hey all,
My '05 Toyota with low mileage keeps having the same re-occuring problem they can't fix. And I am going to rip my damn hair out.

How do you guys like your 2.4 SS Cobalt autos? Do they go? I've had two cars that were stick and time for an auto.
Any known problems? I am probably lookin' to buy used.
Thanks!

Only mod it with warranty-approved parts.
How are the gas mileage numbers realistically with 'em?

i think with GM exhaust and intake it would be quite quick. real life milage for me is 10.3L/100km with semi hard driving and mostly city (9.2L/100km advertised)

First of all, you need to read then re-read your rights about your warrenty because aparently you dont know anything about it.

ANY aftermarket part for these cars retains your factory warrenty...excluding FI kits, ECU upgrades,

Well I don't own one of these cars yet, so I don't have a warranty to read.

Yeah you should get one man. Even if you do just intake and exhaust it'll be damn quick. In stock form the auto 2.4 does 0-60 in 7.5 sec and 1/4 in 15.8. So its deacently quick right off the bat for an auto.

My average fuel economy is also higher than what's advertized by GM. I usually get anywhere from 10.5L / 100km to 10.9L / 100km. I think the fact that my heater is constantly on full blast (man, it's been a cold winter!!) might be the reason for my poorer than average fuel economy!

Im gonna be real with yah about the 2.4 auto. Its not really what i would call a fast or even a quick car. Honest to god there are suvs and minivans that will give you a run for your money.

If you get a model where you can't turn off our TC and you live somplace where snow and Ice is pretty common in the winter this car will **** you off every time the car flat out stops when you turn in an intersection.

My brothers 07 grand prix with the 3800 v6 powering a 4k lb car gets 2-6 more mpg than i do on average and is only sleightly slower than my 07 2.4 but is way quicker in the realistic daily driving range.

Long and the short is for the money there are way better options for modding for 14k you can get a nice low mile 04 impala LT and have a decent looking quick easily made quicker all round nice useful car that performs better and has about the same gas milage and can fit a bankers box in the trunk w/o folding down a seat.

So if needlessly difficult options with a large but inaccessable trunk, poor off the line accelleration, v6 gas milage outa a I4 and spending thousands and not acheiving much hp gain is your thing the 07 cobalt ss/na is for you.

I'm not sure I can agree with anything here.

LOL I'll keep that in mind next time I'm trying to race a soccer mom in a SUV or a minivan. I'd buy something else if I was concerned about being the fastest car on the road.

Never once experienced this. Sure, I could see it happening if I floor it in an intersection, but I don't do that in snow and ice.

2-6 MPG is a big range. What do you get on the highway?

Better looking???? I will agree about the trunk but that's not a 2.4 issue.

Spending thousands? I'm not spending a dime on mods. What are the needlessly difficult options?

Poor mileage? You might want to get it checked because mine easily passes any 3400 Grand Ams or Impalas, etc, I know of.

Its not utilitarian its not very economical and it bears a SS badge What is the appeal if its not fast?

I live in Chicago it snows all the time between October and March this year was perticularly bad for ice. This year ive had it stop me turning onto a 45 mph road 5 or 6 times. One time it stopped at a drive through to only have it start moving again about the same time the person behind me got impatient and tryed to cut around me.

city: 18-20 Hi way: 22-25

Ok looks ill conceed is an opnion but the trunk is still a issue its just shared by all cobalts

Spending thousands? I'm not spending a dime on mods. What are the needlessly difficult options?
For a person looking to mod this car as opposed to say any car with a SBC, Honda B motor, Ford 5.0, BBC, DSM,ect... its just retarded the price per hp gained and tuning options most tuners will tune the motors ive listed readily but of all the local tune shops in my area there are 0 that will touch a cobalt. So from a tuners aspect this is kinda a dumb car to pick no offence i have one too but those who have actually looked into it in my area can vouch.

Poor mileage? You might want to get it checked because mine easily passes any 3400 Grand Ams or Impalas, etc, I know of.
I was refering to the 3800 not the 3400 and my milage is listed above.

I dont know man I find my auto g5 gt is more than fast enough and i'm sure it could beat a 3400 grand am and atleast keep up with a non supercharged grand prix.
