Ralliartist track day

okay, well first off, I wasn't even planning on going to the track. But I woke up to a beautiful day and decided to do the 3hr drive from Omaha to KC. So I call my buddy up that wanted to go with me in his 60trim turbo civic and we headed down.

Shakedown run was a pretty good one. Got me excited. I was running a little too much air in the slicks, 15psi, and I only launched at 3Krpms slippling the clutch, not dropping it. It hooked really good and shifted just before 7Krpms into 2nd and 3rd. End result was pretty good:

2.0---60ft.
5.7---330ft.
8.8---1/8th e.t.
80mph---1/8th trap
11.4---1000ft.
13.6---1/4 e.t.
100mph---1/4 trap

vid

Unfortunately that was the only full run I got. The next run resulted in clutch slippage from 1-2 shift. I had dropped the tire pressure down to about 11/12psi. It gripped hard and slipped on the upshift. Next run after that didn't feel right either. It didn't want to go into 2nd at all, then I got it there. So that run was screwed too as I just coasted down the strip. I picked up my slip and then rolled away from the shack where you pick up your slip and it wouldn't go into any gear. I freaked out and sure enough, something broke inside the tranny.

So my buddy in his civic continued his quest for 13's on street tires. It didn't happend but he came close. His best run was a 14.0@102mph, with a 2.3 60ft.

Here are some pics of his and my car.

Here are the results of my broke tranny. He towed me 3hrs back to omaha with his civic.

Then he ran out of gas. 1 mile from our exit. Awesome.

So that was my day. I got a few more pics and 1 more vid of when we ran out of gas to come. pretty crazy day.

edit. vid of out of gas.

Ok, here's some vids of my buddy's civic also. 60 trim built b16a in a coupe. 14.0@102 on street tires. I pull him by a couple cars on the road. So my low trap speed has a lot to do with the slicks.

EDIT:
here are some vids I didn't even know he did. LMAO.

What happen to your tranny? Cracked case? BTW, nice run. 13.6 @ 100mph seems like a low trap but you had a very good 60" time. I traped @ 108 with a 13.6 ;(

dude, we got so many looks. LOL. we were doing like 80-90mph all the way back and people would just get the bug eye stare when we went by them. Then when we ran out of gas, I was just like, WTF? Didn't know what to do except laugh.

No, no cracked case or anything major. I think it is either the synchros went out or maybe the shift fork broke. It just won't go into gear. Could just be the clutch is glazed. Won't really know till I pull it off.

Like I said before, it was a shake down run. I might have been able to pull another 1 or 2 mph out of it, and I DEFINITELY would have been able to get lower times. The track was biting hard.

oh yea, I meant to include my mods. lol.

Mods are:

CXRacing FMHE
water/meth injection
42.5lb injectors
exhaust cutout
diy motor mounts
slicks
tune

That is every mod I have to date. Everything else is stock. I can't seem to really pick up too much mph in the back half. Need more airflow. Gonna do the tranny swap now and go back. Should pick up some more e.t. then. F23 gear ratios are much better for drag application.

That is badass. Stock pulley hitting 13.6 1/4th. That is the fastest stock pullied SS/SC I ever heard of. To think my car was a factory freak Trapped 100mph stock with a 14.2 1/4th

I guess those slicks and meth injection makes a huge difference.

The tune helps out to, it is much better than the stock tune

smaller pulley, not ready yet. I want to go as fast as possible on stock pulley. 12's are completely possible, I think with the f23 trans and a bit of port work on the supercharger and intake manifold, 3.5" throttle body, and a better tune, then 12's will be possible. It will probably still be at a low trap speed.

lol. he's one of my best friends. It doesn't bother me. I'm just glad I got it home. A 3hr tow bill would have sucked. I gotta break down and spend 100 bucks on a tow kit for the tribeca and just rent a tow dolly to tow the cobalt to the track for now on.

haha, no wierd sounds. I don't think he would have been able to tow me had he not been turbo'ed though.

If your tranny swap goes well, I just may keep my car and do the same thing.
