Question Insurance claim on your Cobalt?

Let's do some statistical compiling.

Seems I see 2-5 new threads per week on here stating that someone has wrecked their Cobalt... had it keyed... spray painted... or otherwise damaged. Most of the time someone's insurance ends up paying for the repairs or replacement.

Insurance on these cars keeps going up and up and up b/c (according to my insurance company) they are involved in more insurance claims than many other types of cars. From what I see here... this is probably true. Apparently... as a Cobalt driver... you have a greater chance of making an insurance claim than say... someone driving a Mustang... whether it is your fault or not.

Why? Noone knows for sure... but the insurance companies like to charge out the ass for it.

How many people here have made an insurance claim on their 'balt? Dosen't matter if it was your insurance or someone elses insurance... it all gets reported to the same place.

Perhaps we can establish that the Cobalt is just a "bad luck" car to have.

To start things off... I was rear-ended by a cellphone yacking female driver in the middle of a rainstorm about 3 months after I got the car. Had the entire rear bumper & lip replaced, along with the exhaust. Cost over $2000.

It wasn't my fault... it went on her insurance... yet my rates went up the last time I renewed b/c "Your vehicle model has been involved in a significant number of reports, so we have to increase your rate."

Yeah, I know. Had I known what was going to come out of it I would have skipped the insurance and just seen if she'd pay out of pocket. Funny......also a dumb bitch on a cell phone.

Yea, I had a wreck w/ my LS. Raine you may the road and area, I was going over top of 485 on Idlewild and some young idiot in his parents mini van tried to pass everyone on the right side that closes after you get acrossed. Except I had not saw him till that lane ran out and he blows infront and tried to come over and smacked my right front. Was all his fault, filed under my insurance to make it go faster and than finally got my money back from his parents insurance. It almost got nasty. Eh, all good, just a fender and headlight, plus the car is long gone

Yep, I put in a claim for over $2000.....I call it Death by Yukon Denali.

Funny thing is.....the cobalt was "car of the week" at the shop. There were over 10 there that week waiting for repairs.

So... as we stand now... of 30 people who voted... 12 have used insurance to pay for damages. That's 40%.

Just some food for thought...

Insurance is a rip off... I hate it. Luckily, I've never had to use it.

I was cut off by an insurance agent and filed a claim under his policy for $1200 to fix my front bumper, headlamp, and grille.

Quite a few of these claims have been caused by others. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and happened to be in a Cobalt.

heh well it worked out to 1200 worth of dmg total but the dmg was for 600 to the car and 600 worth of stuff stolen so it was 600 on auto ins and 600 on renters ins minus the deductables on each ins and it comes out to me getting like 200$ total which wouldent pay for any thing really but it would raise my rates. So basically i now have a dented and scratched and scuffed cobalt and im out a gps and a gtech. Go team insurance is a crooked some how enforced by law money pit the american public needs to pay.

I am assuming you still owe more than they are paying you?
Hopefully you had Gap insurance?

Needed a new radiator, AC condenser, and SC heat exchanger. Also needed a new front bumper.
