initially we included some grade 5 bolts which probably broke during install. Then after many complaints we purchased some grade 9s which were the best $ could buy from McMaster. We still received complaints but we thought that they were coming from user error or from people who still had the grade 5 bolts. On the forums we heard of some people using 1/2" bolts but when we tried them, they didn't fit. Anyway most of you know all that.
Recently we discovered that the mild steel downpipe flange was large enough for the 1/2" bolt but the stainless flange is not. A few days ago we switched to 1/2" bolts for all downpipes and began modifying our stainless flange to accept the larger 1/2" bolt.
Our apologies go out to all those affected and people who had to run to the hardware store to buy replacement parts. What we would like to do is give you a coupon code good towards any purchase in our store for the trouble.
