Alright, im officaly changing my LS to an SS/TC. as some of you know, i went out and bought a 3,000 garrett turbo. Im not trying to figure out if i want a black high rise to go with my SS.SC body kit.

 

SS/SC or SS/TC body kit, some nice seats, boost gauge, high-rise spoiler....

Nice rims & tires (you will need), & just make it look like one!

lol Don't be that guy. Falsely badged cars with obvious tells like a 2.2 and a 4 lug pattern on an SS are true favorites for the Ricer medal of honor. Like the cavalier S/S guy out by me you get more people pointing out that the package is a fraud thn admiring the car for the sweetness that it is. A 2.2 turbo sounds bad ass. A 2.2 rebadged as an SS turbo sounds retarded.

im not going to rebadge it as an SS. i just havn't found the LS badges that i want yet..

as for the reason im getting a SS kit. I want fog lights, and i like the flow that the body of the SS/SC's have. If it wasn't for my credit, i would have an SS/SC, so my only choice is to get it as close as i can get it, and still call it an LS.

as for the cavy. i saw someone trying to sell an 03 as an Z24 to make his price higher.

 

wait a second? you dumbing so far over 5000 into this car insted of trading it in and getting a ss/tc? i know your credit is messed but couldnt that money help you towards a new car?

 

but that would take 2-3 years to get my credit on track. im only 21 and this is the 1st car in my name. So i might as well enjoy throwing money into it, plus im getting knowledge for my next cobalt

i agree wit projekt, i mean my credit aint perfect either but with the money your gonna be spendin you could do a trade in with a good down payment and get you a new 08 ss/tc, thats what im doin all you need for a down payment to help out with the interest rate is like 4-6 k easily the cost of the aesthetic mods you are plannin on makin to your car, trust me cause thats how much i spent on my ls just in body mods. go to the dealer and play him tell him you got like 2 you can use and have him work the numbers after they get done up the amount by at least a grand up to the amount that you actually want to put down on the car. with 4 k down your not gonna get a phenominal rate but it will be around 10 or lower wich is manageble and should land your payments somewher in the mid 400 range. trust me you will enjoy the new 08 ss alot more than tryin to turn your ls into an ss. besides the garret turbo comes with a canned tune that is only good for barely the base line of an ss/sc your gonna be about 50 hp and lb/feet short of the new ss's i wanted to do the same thing as you but realized that gettin one is easier than makin one but if its what you want to do go for it its your car and your money and its good to be original.

 

yeh but right now, the bank has me buy the *****. i pay about 12%apr 214.month but only because they are the only ones i could get approved by. that gmac first time buyer **** is bs

There's 03+ Z24's in Canada. They're Ecotec, but still badged Z24, identical to the LS Sport in the States. So it was possibly a Canadian car, but if it wasn't actually an LS Sport/Z24, then yeah that's funny.

You're going to find it harder and harder to get approved for anything because of the credit crunch that is going on in the United States. Maybe GMAC and their parent company Cerberus Capital Management don't want to have to write off any more bad loans?? GMAC has lost and continues to lose 10s of millions of dollars every quarter, and Cerberus Capital Management might be writing down as much as $900 million as a result of their adventures in subprime mortgages.

Its not personal, its just your country's financial sector is fucked and will be fucked for the next few years. There is better things to do to get your credit rating back.

1 Pay your bills on time
2 Get a secured credit card and pay the balance off every month
3 Start saving in a registered savings plan
4 PAY YOUR MORTGAGE OFF FASTER - prepay as much as you can to reduce your borrowing costs.

In 3 years you're going to regret modding your 2.2L. Save your money, it can be better spent else where.

There is a difference between having "bad credit" and being "in debt". He may not owe anything or be behind on payments/bills, but he may still have bad credit from previous credit cards and such. It happened to me. 18, new credit card, racked it up, didn't pay. 3 years later, paid off in full the credit card company, but from all the non payment/late bills/referalls to collections - my credit was ruined. Couldn't get a loan or credit card to save my ass. So at that point - for the next 6 years or so - I had zero credit bills OR debt, but still, my credit was ****. Of course this was all my fault and accepted responsibility. 12 years later my credit is perfect.

Just saying - take that into account.

However - I'd look at paying off the loan for that 2.2 before I dumped $3,000 - $5,000 into that LS to turbo it.
