Guy in the video doesn't know how to launch. Don't rev it so high, ease into it, you will have a better launch/time. That electronic control looks like crap to me.

In the shots with another person in the passenger seat, it's the GM engineer launching. I think he knows what he is doing : ) With the launch control, it’s designed to be bounced of the rev limit at 5100 RPM.
Here is a good explanation: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...0&postcount=22

Maybe so but good old driving tells me not to do that to my car if I want to get 200,000 miles out of it.

This car is suppost to run 14.1 seconds in the quarter right, is that using that Launch Control stuff or just turning everything off and doing it yourself?

It just dosent seem very fast honestly.. I have a friend with a Grand Prix GTP that runs a 13.9 in the quarter and he can spin the tires from a roll if he punches it going 20 mph in first, and i dont mean chirp, i mean start full on spinning from a 20 roll, and this thing is suppost to be nearly as fast as my friends rig? it just looks like it bogs to hell and has no power in first

Seems useless to me when you have to rev it to over 5000 for it to work. I could get better launches without an assited launch.

Even when you rev it to 5100 it STILL bogs down to hell and dosent really go anywere, its pretty dissapointing.. i wanna see some exhibitions of power like burnouts or something cause this launch control thing looks WEAK

Interesting. Does the no-lift shift only work for WOT or does it work for regular driving situations as well?

turn off the launch control then. you have to enable it anyways

it doesnt need to be an awd car to take advantage of that. have you never seen a pure drag car before? tons of them use launch limiters. i would love to have one at about 3 grand right now.

its probably bogging due to the fact it is not broken in and the driver probably isnt the best

you guys just dont understand the way it works. the engine is limiting power to prevent wheel spin. that is why it looks so slow. if the computer gave you full power they will just spin and smoke. if you engage the launch control the engine is going to cut enough power to prevent the wheels from spinning. if you think you can launch better and you want all of the power then try it without the launch control engaged. they will just spin and it may look faster.....but you will end up running a slower time in the quater. unless you are good at launching in which you could probably pull off a better time yourself. the reason they put features like that on the car is so they can promise some kind of number. not everyone is a very good driver. someone may buy this car and run a 20 second quarter mile because he is spinning all the way down the track. with the launch control and no lift shift this car is pretty much idiot proof, as long as you keep your right foot mashed to the floor you are going to run a low 14, however.......i think that someone who is already a good driver can launch this car manually himself and get a mid-high 13 sec quarter mile time

BINGO!!!!! i agree, the computer has a ton of control of this car now just because it is a manual doesn't mean the computer can't limit the power or brakes.

that makes you wonder if they are going to warranty the clutch? cause they are supporting you do this right? i heard GM did 600 launch control launches in a row and nothing was wrong. i'm not sure, but when i get mine i think i am going to drive it like normal, i like to have my clutch engage.

Interesting video. It looks like this car might be a hell of a task to launch properly.
