So whats the general consensus on exhaust cutouts (the electric ones)? I know on the V8 LT1/LS1 side people like them as a cheap alternative to exhausts, or just for a fun way to make some more noise & power. Since a cutout + the electric valve portion only costs $160+shipping and cat-backs will take a while to come out, I think that an electric cutout would be a good interim solution/drag solution. Only hard part would be finding a place for it to go, but there does seem to be a resonator in the system that could be replaced with it.
I would think that a local exhaust shop could make a cat-back for a decent price, so you wouldn't have to wait around for aftermarket companies.
As far as the cutout goes, I know of a few members that have them, but I haven't heard anything about results/longevity yet.

i dont think it will have any negative effects on your engine... depending on how the lnf ecu is based tho idk if an exhaust cut out will work

basically zero back pressure/open pipe, I don't see it hurting a turbo engine at all

turbo will spool up way quicker, you will shoot flames(if before cat), engine will be happy:twothumbs

You might feel the effects for a little bit, but on how the LNF's are programmed, wouldn't it compensate and reduce power to that of the norm without torque management removed? Turbo would still spool like a mofo.

I've got one on the sky, it makes 8hp/5tq over the full 3" magnaflow catback with it open, and a godawful lot of noise (at end of downpipe) its a QTP stainless. Flipside is it causes boost creep, and I see 2-3 psi more then with it closed, and since i'm already maxed out the factory turbo, it overspeeds turbo at wot. Some sort of trade-off there, but you wont have issues at lower boost levels under 20 psi

So what is the deal with the new Cobalt? Does it look like 350 WHP is achievable on the stock turbo?
