Well everyone, it's been a nice ride!
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know I'm leaving the Cobalt world! My SS/SC is scheduled to go byebye the way of trade in on a 2008 Hyundai Accent. Lower monthly payments, and no more shoddy GM quality. I'll still be around on the forums here and there. My decision to do this is not without thinking about speed. This will come in the form of a 1986 Fiero GT, with a 2003 Caddy Northstar V8, which will make for a mid 12 Second car.
Here's Pictures of the Fiero I'm planning on getting.

I'll mis the Cobalt for it's quick daily driving capabilities, as well as the Pioneer Stereo. It's been a good car for the past 3 years.

i definitely heard it was the Fiero, my dad used to have one back in the day... and my mom would always say that. but she doesnt even know how to change a tire so that doesnt say much... iv heard that a few times though, but like i said, its probably just a rumor.
As far as Fieros blowing up, I haven't heard that one before. I have owned 3 Fieros previous, and this will be my fourth. Never had that problem.
My choice on the Hyundai is a sound one. Obviously the people who think that I'm downgrading quality wise haven't read any recent reports, or know that Toyota has had a large hand improving quality control for the Korean automaker. In other words, this isn't your Parent's Hyundai pony, It will by far get better gas Mileage than I experience in the SS/SC. I'm looking for a car that I can mile out while keeping maintenance costs low.
Currently on the Cobalt I have the Following issues at 39000 kms.
- Check engine light comes on intermittently
- Passenger side door weatherstripping is falling off.
- Tires are worn out at 39000 Kms
- Constant pull to the Left, taken vehicle in for service at two different dealers, no fault found.
- Engine noise is louder on acceleration, attributed to separating downpipe.
- stock engine mounts are garbage, drivetrain feels like it's going to rip out and leave the car behind.
-Front and Rear shocks squeak, rear shocks are pretty much worn out.
- Supercharger chatters from time to time.
I baby this car, just ask any of the fellow local guys around here, and this thing is falling apart. At least with this new car I have a chance that it's not going to be as problematic of a car, and if it is, I'm not spending 31,000 dollars like I did on the Cobalt.
Here's something to put some minds at ease about the Accent.

Here's the Wiki article on the Fiero.

That was a long time ago. But how is it in todays testing standards?

It's too bad we only have video proof of you whooping me that one time. We should have taken video of the reversal result 5 times over.

Fieros, however, did have a reputation for overheating and burning to the ground without even getting hit. I'm sure he won't have to worry about that in good old Canada though.
I can agree to the shoddy GM quality. If I thought they were good cars I wouldn't be in the business of repairing them. They call that job security. But overall I think all cars have their problems. Best of luck in any case, take care.
Like I mentioned before I have only owned 3 other Fieros.
I have had different New and Old GM vehicles for years. This has been the only lemon.
Thanks for coming out though.
alot of problems you listed just happen over time..and some of them warrenty should cover..
loud noise under acceleration? care to tell us your secert? cuz im sure alot of members would want to know
as far as hyundais quality, it has improved alot over the years..most recently its competing with the top dogs..
as far as toyota and honda goes, they are not the companies they use to be in the early-late 90's in terms of quality control.
how much are you paying for the new accent? because determing price is also a factor when comparing quality to other companies
good idea deleting the post elecblue
