Little Known Service Bulletin on 2006 Cobalts

My name is Andy Wise. I am the consumer investigator for the NBC television affiliate in Memphis, Tennessee...I AM NOT A SPAMMER. I am producing a story on rare auto warranty extensions and service bulletins. I have found a rare bulletin on the 2006 Cobalt (No. 06-06-04-012) concerning its fuel gauge. In some of those models, the gauge has a faulty fuel level sensor, and it may be giving inaccurate fuel readings.

If you live in the Memphis television viewing area and own a 2006 Cobalt, and you'll agree to be one of the consumers featured in our story, I can get you a free inspection of your Cobalt to insure your fuel gauge is O.K. and if it's not, I can get you a free repair for your cooperation in our story. Please call me at 901-726-0583 or e-mail awise@wmctv.com.

I guess he's really UNDERCOVER because Andy Wise doesn't appear here:

and the phone number is not public:

(901) 726-0583 is Unpublished or Unavailable

I do not appear on the web site because I am under a 12-month non-compete clause from my previous employer (WREG News Channel 3, the Memphis CBS station). The number I posted is my direct line in the newsroom. Only the news room's assignment desk number is listed on our web site. Andy Wise, WMC TV Action News 5, NBC Memphis.

Yes, I am reporting on other bulletins/extensions on other makes/models, but because of the fuel gauge issue on the Cobalt, I'm looking for an owner to profile in my coverage.

You guys fail at internet research....

The Technical Service Bulletin is legit and the fix is a computer reflash. I don't see why he wouldn't be legit.

Yes, there are more important things, but the fuel gauge is news-worthy in light of current fuel costs.

The Cobalt is also considered to be a decent fuel-economy car, so that makes the fuel gauge bulletin even more news-worthy. Any more questions?

Somebody help this guy out....he might even mention the site on the air.

I would love to see somebody to a test on tv showing what cars gas mileage really was. Take all the diffrent cars and fill them up till you can see gas sitting in the tube. Drive them all 100 miles on the same road with the cruise set. There will be alot of happy cobalt (GM) owners and alot of upset Toyota owners.

Its just a read out?? Has little to do with economy, or fuel cost...

I just need one. We'd shoot an interview with the owner and his/her Cobalt, discussing the bulletin, whether he/she has had any problems with the gauge either not going to full all the way after a fill-up, or moving off "Full" too quickly. Then we'd take the Cobalt to a dealer I'm working with locally to perform the inspection.

It has EVERYTHING to do with fuel costs if your gauge is giving you the wrong read-out.

Jeez, do I have to spell this out for you?

Haha wow.. I pray my job is more significant when i get out of college.... Sorry to be a dick, but really its just a fuel gauge, and its not a big enough deal for GM to recall, so its really not that big of a deal...

Yes... because the tank holds 13 gallons... regardless what the gauge says you put 13 in and you have 13..

he is just saying that if you have a bad fuel guage then you end up spending more money on gas do to the faulty reading making you think your car needs gas when it doesnt

some people dont pay attention to how many gallons it holds
