2.2L rev limiter???

should i increase my rpm limiter with the mods i have (in my vbgargae for current ones) and im getting probably the 2.4L/LSJ manifold in the near future (once i get my car fixed and a few $)

i know the cams and intake mani will have more hp in higher rpms so i figured id ask to get some advice

The big factor will be the cams. Peak power will be determined by the specs of whatever you choose. The 2.4 manifold will help up top as well, but IMO the cams will help more.

BTW, how are you running stage 2 cams? Don't you need tuning?

yea i know the cams help more but just with the powerband shifting to higher rpms would it be smarter to move my rev limiter up some?

Yes. The stage 2 cams should be good up to ~7500 IIRC. If you have valvetrain work, I would take it all the way up to that.

You would be able to use the power that's shifted upwards then... It would be beneficial, as long as you have the valve springs and retainers to go with it

all depends on where peak power comes in and falls off.

stick it on the dyno

For what you have done now and invested in the motor... i would save your pennies for valve springs and titanium retainers first. No use in blowing the motor when it's preventable.

That's where I was looking at getting mine. They have the option for the titanium retainers.

How much power are you getting out of the built motor now?

the only reason i dont want to run past 6500 is cuz of what i have done and the stock valvetrain... im tryin to get money saved up for it.... soon

IMO you aren't getting into the 13's n/a with stock compression.

im most likely going to bore, i need to find higher compression pistons though

LSJ is same bore as 2.2 right? are the rods different lengths?

Yes, I believe they are the same bore.

You'll probably have to go with some custom pistons for the higher compression. That is of course only if you have put the idea of a snail out of your mind.

yea im almost positive that i am not going to. thats why i have the pistons still in my car now cuz i wanted to but $3700 for like 100-200whp is kinda outta my price range when im not going to keep this car more than a few more years

Wait, so do you have the forged rods and pistons in now, or not? I'm confused by your sig.

If you do, but don't want to drop too much more $$ into it, (Like for a turbo setup) I would just throw a 125 shot into it and call it a day.
