Hi all. I have already posted this on *************, ******************, and I am going to post on srt-4 forums also. I am trying to get a bunch of cobalt ss/sc, redline, srt-4 guys together for a meet. This will take place sometime late april or in may depending on everyones schedules. The meet will take place on a Saturday. My Idea is to meet on telegraph ( I live in Taylor, Mi ) There is a large parking lot here that can easily accomodate us. We could meet up in the morning park the rides and bullshit for a little while. Then go get some breakfast or lunch depending on what time it is. Afterwards we could all drive out to Milan (40 mins from here) and do test and tune track runs. After Milan we could all go cruise down 94 back towards Joy rd and hang out at the 50's Mcdonalds. My idea is to have at least 20 vehicles together. So if you are interested please send me an email or pm me. Oh yea, by the way. About a 1/8 mile from that 50s McDonalds there is a Sunoco station with a pump for Race gas. It's probably not too far from where you want us to meet at, and not too far out of the way for our drive down to Milan.

Well I just did some research on Milan. Doesn't seem like there racing schedule conflicts with our meet schedule as there are no events on that day. However I can't get ahold of anyone there yet to see if that day is a test and tune. Alot of people have been suggesting that we rent the track. I would be all for this but I don't think it is possible. To rent the track it would require everyone attending to wire me their share of the money and then I would pay for the track. That is a lot of trust to instill in someone you never met. If however the interest is there I will make you feel as secure as you can about your transaction and give you all of my contact info. I can also print out a contract and probably have it notirized by the notary at work. Here are the prices.

1-15 cars are $250 per hour.
16-30 cars are $300 per hour.
31-45 cars are $350 per hour.
46-60 cars are $400 per hour.
61-75 cars are $450 per hour.

Each 15 car increment increases by $50 per hour.

There will also be a $200 insurance fee that applies. Due to new insurance regulations we must charge all track rentals a flat $200 fee regardless of car count.

New for 2005 is also a gate fee. Everyone entering the gate at a track rental will be required to pay a $2 fee. This includes racers, spectators, crew, friends, family, etc. The only exception is kids 12 and under. We will be having a gate person at all rentals. They will handle the insurance waiver signing, relieving you of those duties you have had in the past.

If you traditionally charge people at the gate you can add that $2 fee on to your collecting and we will charge that directly to you based on the insurance waiver counts.

A $250 deposit is required to hold any track rental date.

So as you see only $250 holds the track. So we could just split that cost for holding the track now. Then pay the rest when we get there. I will continue to get as much information as I can. When Milan opens up I will make the phone call and get it cemented.

It would be pretty sweet IMO if we had some spectators show up. Now that I look at the pricing it is pretty fair. 1 - 15 cars is $250 and hr plus the 200 ins. So if we had 15 people and we stayed for 3 hrs the cost would be $950 total divided by 15 = $63 a person. Pretty freakin sweet. We would get a lot of runs in on 3 hrs.

I would rather just hope it to be a T&T event.
Think about it like this:
T&T is only $20 / Driver and Car.
$10 for Specators.

Yes but you will have to get in line with all the others waiting for T/T. If you rent the track it will just be us there and we can run freely for that time allotment. The interest is very high. If people aren't bullshitting bare minimum will be 15 cars here. So if people feel more comfortable sending 15$ a piece for the 250 reserve we can do it that way. Then when the date arrives you will only pay $45. Just an idea. I am fine with T/T too but I definately would like more than a couple chances at the track.

I'd pay $60 some dollars to help rent the track. seems like a great idea. I'm up for it.

The last michigan meet was a damn good time, and hopefully if we get some SRT's in there, it'll be even better. I actually just met a couple of people who may be interested in tagging along, but they probably wouldn't want to make plans that far in advance. Put me down as "down for it" at this point (I'll send the PM shortly) but I don't know if I'll have the money then; I certainly don't have it now. Hit me up closer to the date.

Renting the track sounds pretty sweet, but it'll be difficult to pull off. How many people are fully committed to this meet (apparently this was answered while my slow a$$ was typing the question)? If it rains, do we get our $$ refunded? Granted, the second question may have to wait until the track opens, but I'm curious to see if anyone around here (or those other forums we don't speak of) has any experience with renting a track ...

Well unfortunately that day the track cannot be rented. The people at Milan have emailed me back good news is this.

May 13 there is bracket racing and open test and tune from 12-?...So anyone can come in and test for $20. Saturday’s are not generally overly swamped so it would probably work for your group. Friday nights are also test and tune and street races.

Now it would be sweet to be under the lights but it wouldn't work for the way I want this to go down. We could move it another date but 20 something people have already agreed to this day so I would not want to do it.

As for refund you would definately get your money back if it rained. The $250 is a deposit so I would imagine if you can't run down the track you would get your money back.

I'll be there for sure.

Probably be bringing a pack of j-body's with me as well.

Message Received From Milan Dragway!

Here is the 2006 Racing Schedule. We have added a few events starting with the "Run for the Gold" Race. The format is the same as a Sunday race except the Winners get 2006 Gold Cards at the end of the day! Other new events include Super Chevy Show, Bar's Leaks Fall High School Nationals, and Battle of the Jets!

Friday Night Street Race is now called King of Street. There will be two classes, one for American Muscle Cars and the second for Sport Compacts. Both classes will have a cash purse, the two winners race at the end of the night for a spot in the Champions Race in the Fall.

APD Quick 32 Series will be run on Sundays except for the Battle of the Jets Show. There is also a change in minimum dialing during eliminations. In the past you could dial-in .10 of the bump spot. The new minimum dial-in will be .10 of your qualifying time. All cars must run 8.90 and faster.

Saturday, Sunday, and Jr. Dragster Points Series will all be one continuous series. We are still going to allow you to drop some races. Bonus points for running on the dial-in is also changing. We will be awarding 3 points instead of 5 points. You must also bring your time slip to the tower that day to get those bonus points. This will help to keep the points as accurate as possible. We are going to try to keep track of the points during the race so they can be posted right away.

Saturday Bracket Racing will now have a points fund. With the switch to IHRA Division 5 Team Finals we are allowed to bring 45 racers instead of 40 in Division 3. So we are taking the top 5 in Box and No Box to the IHRA Team Finals also. Plus you can still get Summit SuperSeries points at any of these points races.

That Kind of (really) sucks... Between Bracket Racing, and Junior Dragracing (boring) we wont get a whole lot of runs in... maybe 4-5 if there are no wrecks. But on the other hand there will be a shit load of people there so we would "make an appearance".

Well I was assured that we will have ample time to get this going. I spoke to the people directly. He said that test and tune will be on that day from 12 - ? when it is done. I told him we are going to have up to 30 cars for this. He said no problem. We will see. I scheduled it this far in advance just in case something came up. If it appears that we won't have enough track time then we can schedule another date. Right now it seems we are ok.

We will be ok, and there wont be any problems. I dont know if you've ever been to a test and tune event. It will go from 12-6. all of these different events will go on in this time period. Then it goes in a rotation sequence. There will also be a lot of people there if it is a nice day. Just saying we wont get that many runs, but then again its only going to be 20 bucks.

Oh, Well.. It will still be a lot of fun. This will actually give us more time to shoot the shit and let our cars cool off. We will have to park in a large group... Gotta stand out :cssNET: :twothumbs

Why don't we just go to the Lapeer Drag way? Milan sounds like too much of a headache, I just want to do some runs, I hate waiting. There will be too big of a crowd for a day like this... Lapeer is usually never that busy.

Well I don't really want to change the location. There are people coming from Ohio and up north and the majority of them already know where Milan is. Plus it is not that far of a drive from the original meeting location on telegraph. I have no Idea where the Lapeer strip is. Is it near the Palace >?? I am open to other Ideas I just want to make sure that it is central enough for everyone that wants to make it. Email me the information about the Lapeer strip.

it's down M-24. Lapeer is after oxford and Metamora. It's about a 10 minutes drive to the strip from I-69

The Stanton strip is nice. I was there for M10. But it is quite a ways away from the original scheduled meeting place. If we change locations we need to keep it so anybody from Ohio and surrounding areas still have the oppurtunity to attend. If everyone who says they are going attends, this is going to be a sweeeeeet event!!!

i live about 15 min from the strip in lapeer. it suks...the traps are off and their used to be potholes at the end of the track and a dirt pit area. Its in BFE. The biggest beef is the traps are off big time. You want good times, go to Norwalk in Ohio. Best place around.

I'm not sure how long ago you went but things have vastly improved before the end of the season.

We will keep the original location. Too many people involved to change it now. I was looking into the other strips not really too much difference to me. The milan run is an extra add in for fun. Hopefully we will all get a couple of runs in more than likely we will. The size of this thing is getting larger than I actually expected. The one thing I do want to say though is this. I can't tell you all how to drive but please please do not drive like idiots on the way to Milan. A little bit of goofing off is fine but I don't want to have the first meet where someone gets hurt. Be very safe. It will be hard not to want to go 100 + because we all have fast cars just remember that going down 94 you are likely to get popped real quick by the po po

Yea, same here, I want a stock dyno before I do anything. Lucky for me, I can't afford any parts right now anyways! Anyone around Dearborn-Ann Arbor know of a good place to get a dyno done at??? I'd prefere ASAP, and not wait till spring.

Hell yeah, can't wait. I'm pretty sure I'll still be stock at this event, but its still going to be a lot of fun meeting all of you.

I talked to the people at Milan about renting the track and unfortunately that day the track is not available for rent. It is however a test and tune day starting at noon - ? whenever it is finished. The list of people is growing and I would imagine more than whom is on this list is going to show. The date is still set for May 13th Saturday. Here is my planned agenda

Now the times can vary depending on how long everything actually takes. I would like to get to Milan by 12:30 but the amount of people that want to come and from the distances they are traveling may keep us from getting there until 1pm. I would hate to leave too early and leave people behind. This does not count people that haven't gotten ahold of me. Hopefully this is all the info everyone needs. Get a hold of me if you need more.

First off I would like to give all of you two addresses from buildings within the plaza we are meeting at.

The reason I gave both addresses is because this is commercial property and addresses can change. Highly unlikely however. So mapquest both of the addresses.

Secondly I would like to change the time of the meet start... I would like to start at 10 am. This gives us another half an hour to get to Milan. Hopefully that will translate into a couple of more cars getting to run the 1/4. If too many people object to this we can keep the 10:30 start time. If we change it to 10 take all of the previous times I listed earlier in the thread and knock of 30 mins.

In other news today I came across a stg2 srt-4. I asked the kid to run it to 65 from about 15 mph just to see how far of a gap there is between his car and mine. We ran head to head until about 50 and then BOV went off and bam he was out like trout. 300 whp is what he said he dynoed so I was pretty impressed with my car.... Hopefully before may 13th the stg kits will be out. Well I will see you all there ! :twothumbs

I'm running a plx devices m 300. You can get their m250 with no display and no sensor then just wire the 5v preout into the black box. I'm going to do that with mine.

As far as a second meet.... I'm sure you guys can come to our local car club meet on Sat the 27th....8:30am till noon for racing. They have the track rented and after noon if you want to continue to race even more later on... just pay again for the test and tune session like your planning on doing here.

It's $40 to race for non-members... Last event I went to... I ran my 13's and got a chance to make 25 passes and took home $20 with a slipping clutch.

What time is the quiz? You can always make it after the test. If it rains, I know some will go to the exceedspeed picnic at Stoney Creek.

He usally does the quiz at the end of class so it would be around noon. I'm not to worried about it. Stoney is always an opition, we had a blast when we went last year.

I would say it's worth $200 to get your car tuned. Especially with all the knowledge and experiance Rob has with s/c GM motors. But in order to get the most out of a tune you need bigger injectors and a smaller pulley, which Rob will most likely have with him.

bein broke rite now i cant get that tune done BUT!

I'm geting my own softwear so i can make my own changes and such but would it be a problum if myself and a few local buddys came down to your shop some day with our own softwear and you could do that tune??....a real wild one???:guns: :guns:

Are you sure about that? If you call Milan and talk to them.... they will make the call at 11:30am tommarow if not to open the gates. If it's dry...they will open..if wet.. they will not open the gates. :( I just called.... 734-439-7368 and thats the answer I got....

well the answer to the meet was a grand total of 25 vehicles..... a bunch of cobalt ss/sc 's , redlines' 3 srt-4's , EVO, Mustang, Camaro. The EVO had some crazy electronics wired up ! Pictures will be coming soon... Special thanks to the hooters girls for coming out and serving a shit load of people in no time flat.... crazy those girls got us in and out in 45 mins and looked damn good doing it..... they then came out and took pictures with our vehicles......... pictures of that are on their way.... I want to thank all of you again for coming out damn good turnout ,damn good times... damn good people... a little word of advice if you are planning a large meet be careful on the highway getting 25 cars in order is a bitch ! No complaints though 1stbluSS out !
