Can't stand salesmen that just confuse you more...

I'm new to the forum and have been thinking about getting a 08 cobalt SS this summer, as the lease on my current chevy is almost up.

Today I decided to go to the dealer to see what the story is on ordering the new cobalts, etc.
I left more confused than I came in, all the info I needed is already here on this site! I got many different stories from 3 different salesmen.

1) One guy asked me if I saw any of them on the lot when I came in, and then went on to tell me that he's already had some customers order them.

2) Another guy told me that you can't order them yet, know-one knows when. They can't access any pricing info, and the axel strike is most likely the reason for this. He said MSRP hasn't been announced yet, and that based on the fact that the last cobalt SS was around $23,000, the new one should be about $5K more because of "all the stuff they added" so he said I should expect to pay around $28,000 for a SS cobalt. He logged into his computer to show me that he doesn't have any pricing yet, so we couldn't order one and price it out yet. I responded with you already can price them out on the chevy website and the prices are there. He was like, "well after you add all the options, it will be close to $29,000. I was like, there's only a couple options! He said, no, there's the xm, the recaro seat option, the heated seats, the different stereo's, etc etc. WOW

3) I was told by one of the salesman that the 2009 model will be available at the start of next year, around January, because of the late release of the 2008 model. Later, somebody else said they would be out this summer, probably august (which is what I had believed before as well).

Long story short, I left the dealer more confused than I went in. Ideally I wanted to price one out, see if GMAC would let me out of my lease early, and see about what I would be looking at as far as payments go with the GM family discount that I get. Instead, they are going to call me when they start getting them in.

This car (SS Turbocharged Balt) will be out around the end of April 2008 and price should be 21-24K depending on options.

You can find all the info you need about this car on this forum.

Im constantly blown away by how little sales people accually know about the products they are selling. When I bought my ss/sc I told the guy I wasnt looking for a ss/na I wanted a supercharged one. He brings me over to a ss/na and says. "Yeah this is the SS.... see it says it right there." "I think you can buy the supercharger from GM" Im like "No there are 2 ss models, one with a supercharger and one without." He says "ahhhhh I dont know about that, Ill hafta check" I say "No thank you im in a hurry" and went to the place where I bought my ss/sc lol.

well as far as i know you can't order the cobalt ss/tc as of right now because of limited production and a shortage of parts.

HAHA, that's what i should have done, just left. They were going to have me drive a SS HHR that they said they had on the lot, but the salesmen didn't know it had already sold. He also told me it was an automatic, and I just commented how the automatics have less power than the manual, and he said i was crazy.

you should be able to put an order in they just can't promise you any delivery date. it wont be the first time a dealership sold a car they couldn't deliver.according to my stealership (who has been pretty good so far) i should get my ss/tc either last week of april or first week of may. i'm figuring i will get it in may.the strike did slow things down a little but did not cease all progress. find a knowledgable salesman who know how to use their computer and work it out.

the target production week on mine is the week of May 5th, I call every thursday when the system updates all of their orders and find out if it changes, mine got moved up 3 weeks. Also, don't talk to a salesman, talk to the new car manager, they'll know more then 95% of salesmen

MSRP is 22,995.00 base SS Turbo (There are very few options offered) with GMS discount 21,246.53. Incentives right now 1,500 cash back for owner loyalty. 500 cash rebate for buying a Cobalt. And yes there is an option right now for early turn in of your lease-see dealer for details ( I suggest a different one then you spoke to) Also 2.9% financing or rebates to qualified buyers. Check out this site for a GM video that explains all about the new Turbo SS. http://www.youshare.com/view.php?fil...around_MED.flv

That's okay,

When I bought my SS S/C the salesmen told me to never put anthing other than regular (87 octane) gas or else I'll destroy the Supercharger and GM will not warranty it.

I smiled my dad hoped in we drove off the lot I saw they had put 87 in the car I looked at my father and we both laughed our butts off.
