I was just at the tire shop and the guy there told me these would not fit my car. Does anyone have these on their car and is there any issues. I am in need of tires so any help will be great. Also my car is lowered on SSC springs if that makes any difference.

they only have 45 profile here for now until a few weeks, so I should wait for the 40's?

They should fit fine, I've seen them on a couple cobalts. I'm actually thinking about going that size when it's time for tires.

225/45 actually is closer but it creates a speedometer reading that is slower then your actuall speed, the 40 creates a slightly faster speedo speed, meaning with the 40 you are safer going just a little faster and know what your true speed is since it will be less then your speedometers actuall reading. Sorry if that doesnt make sense

225-45-18's are a good tire size but like a few post say- they are harder to get but not crazy. I have a malibu tha runs the same rim size as the SS so looking into it these are some tires u might think about in 225-45-18's: Contiextremecontacts- 22 LBS., Pirelli P Zero Nero's- 25 LBS., and General Exclaim UHP's- 22LBS. the difference in the speedo I think is less than 2 M.P.H. this big issue that my tire guy told me is that 40 series look great, cheaper, easy to find but that is you drive in areas that have a lot of potholes well u risk damagin your rim. So you can decide if the risk of messin up a rim is worth a lil more on your tires. Mind you depended on where u look for tires I think that they might be less than 80.00 for the set more than a 40 series. Plus i want lighter tires thas why i really looked that these three. They are not to crazy- they sell em all at discount tires. Some of them are low stock- makes we wonder if a lot of people are using them? Probally not because most peeps that post here dont seem to say nice things about them. Again look at tire rack for detailed info on the tires- info is power!!!

yah its opposite here, the 45 profile is easier to come by than the 40. The guy at the store told me they wouldnt fit and I would have to wait a few weeks for the 40's. Also I am wondering with the 40 profile tire will this cause me to have more wheel gap than with the stock tires.

Yup, that's part of the reason I went with the 45's...I don't plan on lowering my car in the near future and the 45's will give you more height then the 40's...this means less wheel gap. Less wheel gap = better looking car...IMO.

a half an inch or an inch wider is not going to matter. it matters on the quality of the tire.

Thats what I was worried about was the rubbing. I didnt want to get a 40 profile tire because of the wheel gap and the fact that the roads suck around here.

They will fit fine. My stock speedo was fast to begin with, a 225/40 would just make it read even more fast. A 225/45 makes it pretty much right on.
