what you consider rice (i agree at least with the last two) appears to just be whether or not its a v8. why not give an example of something you don't consider ricer but on a 4 or 6 cylinder engine?

 

that second sound clip with the zzp combo sounds real nice IMO.. cant wait to get mine.. ill be runin the downpipe with the megan

yeah you know its easy to say a v8 with flowmasters sounds great. everyone would prob agree. I don't think that sounds ricer, not all raspy and crap. I doesn't sound like the backpressure is killing the motor cause the 3 or 4 inch pipe is way too big for a 1.5 litre engine with no real mods. sounds good to me

yea i was just wonderin because their on backorder as im sure u know ... but u better put ur order in for one before the pre-orders sell out... i got mine from wesellcarparts.com for $320 shipped, that's the best price i've ever seen for it.

 

i got a megan cat-back wit cat dp and headers and is real deep sounding and loud theres no rice to it.

 

i got my catback, and it made my exhaust sound pretty nice (GMPP), and then i got the ZZP midlength header/DP in that 2nd video, and it made my exhaust sound simply beautiful! my point here, is the muffler alone doesnt control the way a car sounds....its the whole system

who ******* cares? honestly? if you like it, good. if you dont, take it off your car. If your neighbor doesnt like it, **** him. some kid with a v6 mustang says its ricey, slap him in the dick.

i have the megan catback. its loud. people look at me when i get on it. i have to put my car in neutral and coast under overpasses because of the resonate tone of the muffler. do i like it? yes.

if you dont like how it sounds, put another resonator on it. or a different muffler! its one of the least expensive 2.5" catbacks around and its pretty good quality. who cares if its "ricey"

 

yea i know.. i tried ike 6 differnt places to see if anyone had one before i gave up and called megan.. it's on nationwide backorder 2-3 weeks from like april 15th.. so they should be back in stock sometime soon.

Oh jesus. It sounds fine, it looks fine, its not ricer.

 

It sounds bad cause the camera's mic is maxed out, but when it idles, it really has a rumbling low tone, or atleast it is what I am thinking, it is hard to tell from the quality of the vid.

Have you heard it in person? Cause I have heard ricers, and I have 5.0 Stangs, and I know I like the Stangs a whole lot more. But I have never heard this Megan in person before.

 

you're comparing apples to horse ****. of course a 5.0 sounds better than a 4 cyl...you cant really make a v8 sound bad. you're not going to get a rumbling throaty v8 tone out of an ecotec, or any other 4 cyl. if you like the way a v8 sounds, you might as well sell the cobalt and go get a 5.0 and put some single chamber flowmasters on it. your cobalt is never going to sound that good.

true.. honestly duude $320 for the exhaust just get it.. there all goin to sound about the same but none of them are goin to sound anywhere near a v8.. the only thing that might be deeper is a touring exhaust but its not worth the extra $$300-600

I believe you are being way to pessimistic about a 4 cyl. I am not pretending it is going to sound like it has twice as many pistons going at it, but that it can make as close a sound as possible. I am not really accepting the defeatist attitude of the likes of onyxredline, who every chance he got would throw out some stupid comment about the balt sounding like **** cause it is a 4cyl.

When my set-up is done it will sound as good as the set-up can sound. It will have its own distinct tone, as the 5.0 with Flomaster 40s has, it won't be the same but it will be awesome.

They are different, I grant you that, but that doesn't keep a 4 cyl. from having its own unique and great sounding tone.

 

I have the megan cat back, gm extrude honed manifold, and the zzp 3in downpipe with highflow cat that goes down to 2.5inch bolt on...it is loud as ****. but is not raspy at all. i get tons of compliments of how it sounds constantly. i can try to get some videos up here in a day or so...

 

like i said, if you dont like it cut the muffler off. all exhaust is, is pipes, a resonator, and a muffler. change the last 2 in any order and you change the sound. its simple.

i've owned a 5.0, with flowmasters of course, before the cobalt. i've heard cobalts with borla mufflers, vibrant catbacks, gmpp crap, and megan. they're all basically the same. none sounded as good as my mustang though
