Stage 2 + I/H/E + Cams and gears should put out near 300bhp. That should be near or beyond what stage 3 would offer.

Meh, more dissapointment from GM regaurding the SS. No big deal, that's all this car has been so far for me anyway, a big dissapointment (as well as a huge money pit).

Thanks GM, I appreciate it!

Well that just plain sucks, looks like we will be on our own after these kits come out. If you read the wall poster about the stage kits it says "These are just the beginning of upgrades comming for the Ecotec platform" yeah ok. Bdwarr do you know what the "planned" items were to be in the Stage 3?

exactly, more reason for the aftermarket companies to jump on the ball.

Stage 1 and 2 are a big enough jump start IMO.

We'll still see big numbers soon.

How far is everyone taking their car?

My plans -

Stage 2 E/H/I till warrenty is gone. Close to 300hp

Turbo/twincharge and all the toys after warrenty. 300hp+

To me the problem is GM's lack of interest in their car and it's customers. Hell, look what Dodge did with the Neons, and how many of those factory tuned Neons have you been beat by so far Jay? Heh, that's what I thought.

I just think it sucks that GM is leaving us hanging in the wind by our skivies after the stg2 is out. At least they could show some more concern towards the vehicle and the following than just "Here kid, have fun with this pulley. Now leave us alone so we can get back to the Corvette."

Oh well.

That's probably why we lack torque gains on the stage kits. Hopefully someone will crack the PCM before too long and adjust the fuel mapping for more torque.

It's not a lack of interest on Gm man. A lack of interest would be to do nothing at all for you folks. They don't think the clutch or possibly other drivetrain pieces will hold up with the amount of power Stage 3 would put out, so instead of coming out with the Stage 3 setup, having people blow their clutches, break other parts and claim it should be fixed under warranty GM will leave it up to the aftermarket and still provide a solid basis to build on with the stage 1 and 2 upgrades.

Geez some of you guys are never happy.

No they cannot do Stage 3 without an upgraded Clutch and pistons to much risk of them blowing or burning out while under just normal conditions, It was actualy a smart move to save GM more than likely more money than they would have made from the kits alone

Yup, ultimately GM doesn't want to sell you a Stage 3 setup, you blow up your car and then blame GM and be even more disappointed than you are now.

You play and you pay. You think adding extra hp isn't going to hurt something down the long run? be realistic

If you break something mom and dad ain't there to fix it, bust your wallet out.

Unfortunately, in order to get to 300-400hp, our cars are gonna need some serious mods to be a safe day to day driver. I recently bought the GM Sport Compact Performance Build Book, and it says that the following upgrades will be needed: " installation of connecting rods and pistons, new head gasket and head bolts, and adjustible cam gears". It says that the ecotec is reliable to the 250hp mark, and at 300hp our connecting rods need upgrading ( <=== the 2.0l connecting rods ).

Now I know that the book covers the 2.2l for the most part, but there are tons of references to the 2.0l.

300 horses seems to be the max for our engines. After that our stock parts need replacing. Im also guessing that GM is killing the stage 3 kit for now because our stock internals are rated "reliable" to 250 hp, thus stopping at 241 horses.

The stock internals are good for 300 then you have to just swap out the pistons. I have the book on the coffee table next to me. It's clutch and half shafts that will fall apart first.

Hopefully the flash will be more forgiving than the present calibration.

After the clutch and half shafts there would be motor mounts, trans mounts etc. People would throw a fit about wheel hop. At some point emissions would become an issue, dont these things have to pass for 100,000 miles.

That's the wonders of 3rd party/aftermarket suppliers. Stage 2 and 3 clutches here we come! I'll be ready to pony up when it's time.

Replaces the stock SC with an 8-71, EIGHT...new injectors and even comes with a spec 11 20,000lbs clutch!! Full warranty!!! I dynoed it last night on the Gtech and it was like around I dunno..like a gazzillion HP, it was hard to tell really, my eyes were all blurry from the G's yO!

anyways....really..why are most threads starting out alright and always stray off to speculating **** we don't even know about..
