Motor Trend Runs 13.9@102.5 in the 2008 Cobalt SS...
Hey guys, stumbled upon this article. Thought you guys might like to read this. 5.5 seconds 0 to 60 mph, and 13.9@102.5 mph in the 1/4 mile. This car makes for a perfect daily driver, it's just a shame the tranny can't handle any mods. If you were going to buy this car and do nothing to it mod-wise, it would be great to drive everyday. However, to go fast, not so much. Here's the link:

According to the GM engineers at the midwest meet, the tranny can hold a bit more than we are led to believe. and yes that is impressive stock. I expected no less though with all the electronic **** it has in it helping people to launch.
i doubt they were using the 5K "launch limiter"
I thought the tc's had something else that helped them launch better. Aside from the better axles and mounts and all that ****. I thought it was something in the ecu that helped them launch.
Its aftermarket WILL grow. Don't worry.

Out of all the people on here you should definatly know that.
And as far as aftermarket is concerned for the new SS/TC. I'm sure it will grow and at a fast rate. Of course there won't be anything yet the cars not even out!! So no one can even mess with it to make parts. I say give it a good 2-4 months once the car is on the street and the aftermarket will be huge!

Consisting of Intake, exhaust and bigger FMIC.
I don't think this car will be anything like the old SRT-4 or hell, even the new Sheds. All thanks to Direct Injection.

The tranny will hold the power... it just doesn't take abuse too well.
Besides, look at DSM's... their trannies are worse than ours... and they have a solution.
If someone (or a BUNCH of people actually) would email Shep Trannies, I'm sure they would eventually look into doing something for the Cobalt world... quite like they have for the DSM world.
