has anybody looked more into the computer issues on the new ss/tc? the way i understand it, as said directly by gm, the computer is programmed to hit a certain torque #, not a certain boost # like the ss/sc. that being said, the car will over/under compensate the boost depending on the situation. with that in mind, if you add an intake, and exhaust thinking you're getting more power, you won't be because the computer will just cut the boost to give you stock #'s. unless that computer gets cracked, it's going to be pretty worthless to mod it seems at this point, and who wants to spend a shitload of money to tune a direct injection car with an intake. does anyone know where to get any more info about this? i know everyone keeps referencing the sky/solstice, but, being that it's a different tranny and a different computer i don't see why that's the reference point.

pretty sure I read that the solstice gxp and sky redline share the same pcm/oporating system as the cobalt/hhr ss

And Adui

And VW

And Mazda

And Ford

Why do you think a turbo Audi/VW has so many gains from being chipped?

I honestly say wait until it comes out...

..."oh but Steve the LNF has been out"

In a low volume roadster...Cobalts outsell the Solstice and Sky by a ton.

Patience everyone lol.

the tranny issue too,

when i asked the gm performance rep @ ced about stage kits for the ss/tc he said theyre looking into it and "looking into what it means for the transmission"

this car's still
a mystery to everyone.

yep. every time i brought up the weak ass tranny that is rated for 258 hp but comes stock with 260 people pointed out the sky and solstice but that's a different tranny

The F23 is rated for 170wtq

There are plenty of turbo Cavi's out there putting down more than that...with realitively no issues

I think the weak point is the clutch...a good clutch and you're golden

There are also plenty of F23 that don't stand up to more than 170 tq. I am sure the * edit* F35 CAN stand more then 260 tq the problem is that GM doesn't want to have a bunch of warranty work for broken transmissions from people pushing 280 - 300 tq.

Basically. Your bolt on's will be great for sound. Your not going to experience any gains whatsoever.

But when you do chip it (as most will) the gains will be there just like if the pcm wasnt tapped into everything.
So basically your I/D/E + chipped will experience a lot more gains then a tc thats just chipped. So go ahead and mod it. So when you do chip it, you get the full potential.

The tranny should be fine, If you dont know how to drive a stick then dont drive one.

VW's trany is notorious for shitting out, look how many v-dubs out there push insane amounts of turbo torque on the stock tranny, just swapping the clutch.

The TC's clutch will be a lot stronger. So everything should be fine, until you want a low 12 second to high 11 second car.
Then your gonna need a bigger turbo, intercooler, and an insane tune.

Just like ive explained a million times before.

The ss/tc has the f35 though

I really don't think you will see warrantied stage kits, like SC 1&2 kits ,for the TC. With the tranny being close to it's rated limits , GM will likely go the route of the non-warrantied SC stage3 kit.

This is all speculation but i really don't see GM gambling with warranty issues through out the 100k powertrain warranty. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth.
