Witt 05-03-2008, 03:24 PM Those part numbers appear to be steel core versions of the Comp 2.2L Stage 3 and Blower grind cams. I've been tossing back and forth the idea of building an aftermarket igintion via MSD distributor in conjunction with a set of these. I can't convince myself of it quite yet. Rodimus_Prime 05-03-2008, 03:46 PM Im working on a way to run the AEM twin fire or the MSD DIS4 I should have the info up soon on how and if it works Witt 05-03-2008, 03:53 PM My number one issue is providing the PCM with a cam sync signal. In the absence of the exhaust cam sensor, the stock ignition system has to be preserved in order to correctly time the fuel system with the correct stroke. If I can get a hold of documentation from MSD on the type of signal the distributor is able to output, it might answer some of my questions. My reason to go with an aftermarket ignition is two-fold. I want to be able to use more aggresive cams without the need for a base circle regrind (and hence the elimination of the exhaust cam sensor). I also want to be able to upgrade the capacity of the ignition system (obviously). An aftermarket ignition must meet both of those requirements for me to justify the cost of replacing the stock components. Rodimus_Prime 05-03-2008, 05:14 PM I used to run an msd on the 2.2 Eco on a DIS2 box, for the cam sync there is no sensor so you use MSD-8914 which taps onto the 4th plug and sends a signal back to the pcm for camshaft position, look into it if you havent already without MSD8914 I would get a P0340 code, with the part correctly installed the code is not present |
