here's a close to done cut of the intro to a sweet 16 i'm working on. let me know what you think. i put it together, my gf told me it sucked, told me what to do to fix it, i yelled at her, she yelled at me, and finally i said "you're right" so anyways, here it is let me know what you think

yea, i do it full time. this is still a rough cut. i need to actually watch the super sweet 16 show on mtv to see what they do with it.

yea bro, i do it full time it's how i make a living believe me, i film NOTHING innapropriate at sweet 16's unless it's totally on accident. i think the girls these days are rediculous, makes me scared to ever have a daughter, and makes me feel old

yea, really makes me feel old. i think to myself "what's wrong with these little kids, sneaking in booze and going outside to smoke and all that". but i did the same thing when i was that age. a couple years ago i wouldn't have been responsible enough to film sweet 16's, i probably would have been taking the girls out back the whole time but now it's just gross to think about these young girls like that.

 

can you get in trouble at all for making it look so much like the MTV thing?

not at all. i don't use any of the mtv effects, they're all made 100% from scratch. there's no logos, nothing. the only thing is the song, which mtv doesn't own the rights to. you can't copyright a "style" of video, just specific things like logos, etc. but at any rate, i don't set out to make it look like mtv's work, i've never even seen the show besides on a commercial when my gf is watching tv or something like that.

 

i think its pretty good. you got some good video editing / photog. skills. the shots look candid instead of posed like many of the intros on that show.

 

thanks bro. i'm 100% candid, i think posed shots look fake and very cheesy. i don't ever pose a single shot.

looks good....my friend works for dp events up in demarest so im always at diff events helping him....its crazy what goes on at these things even at the bar/bat mitzvahs (8th graders)...its funny to watch the hormone crazed guys trying to grind with the girls who are all still grossed out by boys...oh the drama and then you get the spoiled little brat diva bitch whos like screaming the whole time about how everything its not perfect and how its all her dads fault and blah blah blah and then there was the sweet 16 i was at where i went to use the restroom and 3 16-18 yr old guys were in there snorting lines off the counter top

no, wasn't that much. but most of the sweet 16's i do are just as expensive, if not more expensive than some of the weddings i do.

sorry, she didn't like the first rought cut, and now that i worked more on it neither do i. she loves it how it is now though. she said it was too "dark", and was too boring. like it didn't make her want to watch any more. so i added all the pink, threw in some more clips, and for the dancing clips i tried to get shots that showed more people on the dance floor.

i'm going to make one more change to it tomorrow, then i think i'm done. at the end, that's the "candle ceremony" sped up to about 35,000 times normal speed (yes, that's the right amount of zero's) it's about 15 minutes of video sped up to be a few seconds. at the end, i think it needs to kinda pop, and stop on something, maybe a shot of the cake and hold for a second, or maybe a shot of the ice sculpture in the shape of a 16.

here's a video that i think shows alot of my candid type of style. zero posed shots, everything as it happens, and if it doesn't happen, o well. so many people in this industry have certain shots they want no matter what, and i think it looks super fake and lame when you ask someone to do something.

i think it's a little boring, and a little slow for my liking, but it wasn't my wedding video btw, this started out as hi definition. thanks youtube
