That's a fusebox in the front. It has terminals wired to the battery in the back when you need to jump start it.

when my salesman showed me the trunk and said " heres your battery" i freak. the salesman said that its back there so it wont get dirty-from the engine-stay warmer-so it hold a charge longer ( not to sure about that one, but its what he said). cant remember to much else- it was like 32' outside @ night and we were freezing our butts off!

It was most likely put there because there really isn't enough room in our engine bay since the fuse box had to go in there.

Ya, what he said. ^^^^^ The battery is in the back for better weight distribution. This make the car better in the corners.

I know most turbo kits and supercharger kits for cars require battery to be moved to the truck because of space requirements, I figured this is why the ss/sc battery is in the back. Is it in the back on all models?

The SS and red line only have the baqttery in the back. The other base modle have the battery right were the motor mount is. Right above the pasenger side tier. The SS could have one put there (there is room for one)but then it would not handle as well.

I agree that it makes it better in the corner, but If I was concerned with 1/4 Mile on a front drive car... Over the Driveline would be my suggestion.

Did you SC/SS owners see that there is alot of room on the Pass side over the mount...

Perhaps room for a small sealed race cell..

also because it's cooler back there witch would help it live longer then if it was under the hood.
