Best way to drive and save $$$?
Best way to drive and save $$$?
I was just wondering if anyone has tips about driving that is economic cause lately it seems like I'm burning through gas like nothing
Btw, I have an auto.

^^^^ agreed......every now and then my gas mileage seems to drop for no reason, so i'll just go drive on the highway more than normal and my gas mileage goes back up and when i stop using the highway, it still stays up for at least a month or so till it drops back down again.then i do it all over. dunno if my car is just crazy or what. i just know that it works for me.i have a 5 speed if that makes a dif. which i don't think it should.

The other day I got 32.7mpg over 18.1 miles, all city driving. Of course, most of the time I get around mid 20's city driving.
The way I got that high number was slow accelerating, costing (with down shifts) as much as possible when coming to a stop, and using cruise control as much as possible. cruise control helps because even if you drive at a constant speed without it, you still tend to vary your throttle input slightly.

Yea, I think I need to check my tire pressure definatly. I was worried cause I was using a lot of gas for some reason and my thing is staying at 26.0 mpg. And i have the 2.4L and the only mods are and injen CAI (only been on about a month) and shiftplus (only been on for like a week). I try to keep the rpms at wround 1500 but on highway I try to stay at about 2000. Is that good?

anything below 2500-3000 will be fine, between there you are pushing it and above it you are killing it. I have horrable milage btw. like 22 city and 35 highway.
The way I usually get better gas mileage is get to your desired speed and just ease a little bit off the pedal. You'd be surprised how much difference it can make. My instant mpg thing goes to about 42 when I'm at 50 and if I just ease a little (not a lot to cause you to slow down) it will read around 52ish. My avg mpg on my dash says 27.8 and when I got the car it had that set at 11.2. Not sure what kinda mileage people get out of a tank but I'm barely at half a tank with 203 miles and the fuel range thingy says I still have 199 more miles to go.

If you want to see what you're really getting at the moment, reset the reading by holding the right DIC button for a second or two. You'll see what it's computing your instantaneous fuel economy as. You'll notice after a bit that the numbers won't be jumping all over the place quite as much as it continues averaging your fuel economy.
Yea, it says I'm getting 26.0 economic on the dash but I'm definatly getting lower then that around town and I drive really easy. It's kinda pissing me off lol. And then I hear people getting like 30+ miles in thier balts and I'm just like =0 !
Completely stock and I'm seeing 27 mpg all around with about 85% of that on the freeway. However, I do generally end up cruising at about 75-80 mph since the highways are going about those speeds anyway.
I guess a tip that other people missed is that if you can make your own hours, get to work early and get out early. You miss both rush hours and save your brakes.
Also should note that the 27 mpg is me doing math at the pump. The DIC is always optimistic.

Between Thurs and Sunday I put 1449kms on the car. 1400 of it highway. 32mpg. I took the backroads on the way home and my mileage suffered for it. I
I've babied a 37, but Ill take 32 while still having some fun lol. Cruise control and close to the speed limit is all I can say. Once you hit cruise tho, you dont wanna break or cancel it for a couple of hours.
