From reading all these threads no body has gotten there 08 SS/TC Cobalt as of yet, in a couple of months they'll start producing the 09 SS/TC Cobalts....I think it's worth waiting for.

Yes the price might go up some ( my guess would be less then $500 ) but in a couple of months an 08 will be considered a past model, that alone will make it worth 2k less. JMO

Nice down payments stop that 2k from being a big deal

I put an order for my '09 today. The dealer said there are new features added to the 2009, once he emails me what it all includes I'll be sure to post it.

I agree, the questions is, will there be any 08 SS/TC available when that happens?

Here's a question... i have a paper saying i ordered a 2008 ss/tc... is there any chance that they may just scratch that one and make it an 09? seeing as they are gonna come out a few weeks seperate... My dealer didn't even offer me the LSD option, which i'm kinda pissed about...

My guess would be if your order was accepted to built as a 08 it will be, if it were me I would cancel and reorder a 09 instead.....with the LSD. Again, JMO.

When do you figure i would get my 09 if i ordered that? I don't even wanna wait the 6-8 weeks for the 08! lol

You'll be able to order the 09's starting monday (according to my dealer)
They'll be built mid june. Arrive at dealers mid july.

Same pricing, not as many promotions. So far all the same options, no news on anything else yet. You can still order an LSD and have it installed if the car didnt come with it from the factory.

yea.. instead of waiting for an 09 why not just wait for a 2010.. there is going to be somthing new every year, why not just buy a new car lol

05-15-2008, 12:26 AM
Well, if it's the same price, less promotions, and no extra options, i'll just get my 08, so i can get some good promotions. How would I order the LSD for this car?

Magill8

Talk to your dealer about ordering the LSD part (talk to one of the tech guys)

and talk to them about getting it installed.

I couldn't care about the promotions since Im getting GM employee pricing anyways.
Then trading in my saab. Should come out to around 16K financed not including down payment since I dunno how much Ill have saved up without being broke.

Back in the old days when GM did a model year change it would take 4 to 6 weeks before they started building the new model year car, today they take the weekend off and start building the new model year cars on Monday.

"They are only going to produce vehicles that were ordered prior to last month. I know, it sucks and you're not the only one that's losing their order.

The reason is because they have an engineering part that is on constraint, meaning it means production is on hold until they can resolve this issue. I can give you back your deposit and we can try and get one with the options you want when dealerships actually have them in their inventory, which we now don't know when because of the constraint, or you can just order a 2009 instead. By then, the constraint will long be done and you can pick up the 2009 in September, if you can wait a few extra months.

Orders for a 2009 model is starting already. You'll also be glad to know there there are some new options that make make the 2009 better than the 2008 so let me know if you'll be interested in the 2009."

Direct quote from the email
I find it very unlikely that they'll be ready in July, but that would be really awesome if it's true. I'm just not counting on it.

Any idea what these "new options" are? and why they delayed like 2 months to put them in the 09, and didn't just get them into the 08's?

Honestly, if I were ordereing one I'd just order a '09 because of this whole mess. Unless I could get an insane deal on a '08 with everything I want in it.

As soon as they email me I'll post it. The dude who's been helping me out since April over at Showcase Chevrolet is off on thursdays and sundays, I'll give him till next week to email me and if I don't get one I'll ask about them.

GM dealer world lists the peformance display , leather wrapped parking brake handle , a new color called Silver Ice to replace ultra silver and available bluetooth connection and USB port on the radio face . And while not officially listed , the Black graphite wheel option will likely quietly show up as well .

i dont know why people think they will get 09 SS's in july. 08s havent hit the streets yet and its just 6 weeks away from july. if you ask me they will tke the order and you will see 09 SS models in october the earliest. the simple fact that the 08s aren't out yet and the options for the 09 SS have not been decided or confirmed.

You would be MUCH wiser to wait. People are waiting on cars now that you won't even be able to order in a week or two as the model year is over. Order or wait for a 2009 now.

The 09's shouldnt have any hold backs like the 08's are having.

This is my dealer telling me they should be here mid july. So far all my news that Ive posted up here has come from them and they've been right about everything.

There gonna start building these suckers in june.
I think mid-end of july is very doable

This guy from the dealer has got to be an idiot... Thank god the guys at my chevy dealer says he never goes to that building and stays in the dodge side of the company... i asked the guy a while back when i could start pre-ordering the 08 turbo... he said that there is NO such thing as an 08 turbo and Chevy stopped making the cobalt in 06... When i told him Chevy.com lets you build it, he kind of appoligized and said that he sees that... Never said anything else about ordering it, so he was probably trying to avoid me to prevent further embarrasment... Well i just emailed him again for fun, asking what new options are gonna be available for the 09, and when we car start pre-ordering that. His response was "We have already taken orders for the 2009 Cobalt SS Supercharged. Chevrolet did make the Supercharged Cobalt in 2008." This guy says he's the internet sales manager, i feel bad for anybody that goes to see him. My answer to him was "As per your head sales manager, the orders for 2009 have not yet started but should sometime next week. And you mean the Turbocharged right? Supercharged eneded in 2007. Just FYI."

A sales person I talked to today said if I wanted the $1,500 Owner Loyalty Bonus Cash I would need to buy one today, I said if GM not going to continue the $1,500 then why would I want to buy what will be soon to be a past model car?

Your fooling yourself if you are expecting any rebates on an SS, the customer loyalty is for the LS, LT, and Sport (2.4), the SS is EXCLUDED as is the Trailblazer SS. The ONLY SS that qualifies is the HHR SS. They are considered specialty vehicles PER GENERAL MOTORS just like the Corvettes are. The dealer can submit the rebates but they will be declined. A Sales person will tell you anything to get you convinced that you want the car, you need the car and you deserve it, because once you are in that mindset you will 90% of the time buy the car regardless. They will "apologize" and play good guy like they did everything they could to get you the rebate but GM considers it a specialty vehicle and it does not qualify, like they didn't know. http://www.gm.com/shop/currentoffers/

Then they under-valued your trade. I was a GM Salesman once upon a time, I know the game.... The figures on the buyers order are just that numbers, the finally deliver contract will usually have the correct breakdown on it, but even that can be "fudged" if the finance manager doesn't actually turn in the dealer rebate payback forms

I work at the Dealership,i didn't trade anything for it, i got GMS plus 1500 loyalty. Your probably right if you don't work for the dealer you probably won't get it
