Are you looking for FWD or RWD?

FWD + cheap = civic
RWD + cheap = Foxbody IMO

I want AWD but you cant get those cheep. I guess rear wheel drive, though ive only had one rear wheel drive and never hot rodded it. So I bet there hard to keep control of at the track eh? My dad just doesnt want me tearing up my balt at the track.

I think I can get a beretta with stock engine for 500 or so then do a swap....

I wouldn't think they would be hard to control. Unless of course you put an 8 second motor in with the stock suspension.

I would go with a foxbody. You can get one for cheap and there are plenty of parts out there for it. Aftermarket heads, exhaust, rear gears, and 100 shot ought to put a smile on your face.

I wonder if the supercharged 3800 would fit in there. Hmm...

A fiero is another option. Those cars are sweet.

a 350 chev motor will fit into a fiero as well. just have to put a small dent in the rear wheel weld. but anyways. a foxbody mustang is a great idea. great car lots of parts means speed for cheap. good pick xm15. personally i race a foxbody in a stock oval series love the car never had a problem with that i couldn't fix easy.

I used to own a 1985 Mustang GT (foxbody) and they definitly are cheap to get really fast. Engine wise, I bought Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads ($1200), Edelbrock intake manifold ($180), Comp Camshaft ($300), Full flowmaster dual 2 1/2" exhaust with BBK headers ($700)........with all that and 3.73 rear gears, I was doing 13.1 @ 107 mph in the 1/4 with a crappy launch......could've easily been a mid 12 second car with a better suspension.

turbo dodge... you can get a running turbo shadow for 400 bucks or so and then drop 500 into it and run deep in the 12's then spend another 500 and you will outhandle many many car...

i saw an almost stock csx come in 5th place in the spectator drags last year against over 100 other cars

just shows carol sheldy did build a car for 13k new that would outrun and outhandle porsche 911s

z cars are not drag cars. however. if you have deep enough pockets you can make the car very fast. in short. z cars are expensive. take it from someone who owns 4 of them

Idk bout crate but he had an old accord in his junkyard so he took ripped it outa that and threw it in there stock with 200k miles on it. Ran it untuned at the strip and ran a 12.7xx tuned it and finished the bolt ons, went back and did a 11.899.

I would buy it and restore it, fully restored around here you can get 20k.

And to whoever said the 280 isnt a drag car, that is like saying a 4th gen supra isnt a drag car... turbo'd2.8 I6 is not much different than a turbo'd3.0 I6. Main difference is that the supra is a fat bitch in comparison. I have seen one(280zx) with a 65 trim run low 10's and own everybody at the strip... I will see if I can find the pics from the meet.

Get a A/G body montecarlo, malibu, grand prix, Regal, cutlass form 78-87 or similar year F body camaro or fire bird Swap out any thing thats not at least a 350 to a 350 or bigger or a turbo 3800 add a few parts and youll be in the 13's or quicker easy. SBC parts are cheap as hell and it dosen't take much to have a car thats 300 - 400 hp and 350 -500 lbs of torque. A/G bodys you can buy fiber glass every thing for relitivly cheap. Cheaper than a fox body.

Dont get a A/G body, they are heavy and they are expensive now thanks to donkers with 22" and bigger rims they like to throw on them.

Oh, and here is a pic of the 280 that was killing at the track here. 10.8 on stock suspension and trans. Said he only spent about 5k on the whole car.

snapping half shafts, stub shafts, u-joints, input shafts. sheering the teeth off second gear.

all in one day with 200 rwhp in my 280z i had.

yep, i don't know **** about z cars.

the 2.4-2.8 L series isn't much different than a toyota 3.0 i-6?

lets do the basic difference here. crossflow head 4v ohc. none cross flow ohc 2 valve head.
hmmmmmmmm
there is huge difference there.

im not even going to get into more things that are different. in short. it is a completely different motor.

280z vs a 280zx. different body and frame set up all together.
