Harrop TVS Supercharger - My experience

Well I wasnt one of the originally "picked" testers for this but I did end up with it. My first thoughts on the blower when I picked it up was wow the machine work is really nice on this, I also ended up with one of Nate's Pulleys which I must say are MUCH lighter than any provided by Harrop. I got the 75,80,85, and 90mm.

About 2 weeks ago my setup consisted of Stage 2, Fujita Intake, Some minor HP tuners work, CX Racing Intercooler and the GMPP Option B dual pass kit. Sadly no exhaust mods (more on that later).

I originally started with the 90MM pulley since this has the least amount of boost (I saw 15.8). A stage 2 tune with no changes or even minor ones will NOT support this. A full retune is required. About 2 days after the install I had a P0171 code pop up. This could have also been due to the bypass valve not being installed correctly, I did not check that it opened properly or made sure to line it up before tightening up the 10mm bolts on it. Apparently it was crooked enough that it was getting stuck. Also the MAP sensor was resting on the supercharger, I believe this was giving me falsely high IATs. I wrapped heat sheild on the sensor and now its working fine with no false readings.

I ended up breaking my map sensor trying to move it over more with the charger on the car, do not do this its 57 bucks to replace that thing. Since I had to remove the charger off to fix the map I decided to move down in pulley size and go with the 85mm since its damn near impossible to get the belt on over the 90mm pulley. In order to run the 85mm you HAVE to have 60lb injectors theres no way around this.

Trying to set up the 60s was quite the pain in the ass but with help from alot of folks on here I got it right and figured out. I'm aiming for 11.5 AFR right now and its pretty dead on, not sure what kinda fuel mileage I'm getting just yet but it doesnt seem too bad. I'm getting 17.5psi of boost and 40.75 on the MAF lbs. I'm maxing the spark tables. Alot of things will prob change once I get the ZZP exhaust on.

I'm also using the Rebel TB adapter prob not going to go to the LS4 but I do have it tapped for water injection nozzles which is why its on now.

Some more pics....

Special thanks to Brianthelion and Josh (dont know his username on here) for helping with the install, uninstall, and then eventual reinstall and datalogging

Your welcome bud. You are helpin me out a lot with fine tuning mine, its the least I can do. Go ahead.. say it.. I got the small hands to get in the tight spaces.

I will tell you this, if you have to take that damn blower off 1 more time I'm gonna woop your ass. Yes, it looks bad ass. Yes, it pulls hard. Yes, it even whines! But god damn does it suck to put it on there.

Look back for some updates, we are gonna battle it out at the track here in a bit.

Its running pretty much perfect now, spark advance needs work and im getting kinda clogged up by the sock exhaust immediate plans are the ZZP midlenth combo with the 1.75 primaries highest temp heat paint, the cat, and the ZZP 3inch exhaust

I've riden with him with it on. Granted he just got it running good.. but he likes to get on it.

Who wouldn't, seriously. I just filled mine up after we tuned it a bit and we did atleast 4 WOT 3rd gear pulls and atleast one 2nd. I got 28.5 mpg on that tank. If he can go a full tank and not beat on it I'm sure it will do low 30s.

nice to hear that you like it. I'll be buying one come tax time. I got too much other things going on in my life to get it when I get back from deployment. But I think I'm for sure going the tvs route. I'd love to just go turbo and make big power, but supercharging for me is so much easier, and cheaper.

BTW, let us know those track times man. DO ME PROUD! BREAK 12's PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

a few testers have not had good luck with it, no traction on street tires at all

he is on stock exhaust...wonder if the backpressure would cause the higher cyl. airmass?

I was maxing out the spark tables, but I was a little over 20 psi

Im sure it is backing me up big time, shouldnt be a problem for too much longer, just gotta get the money together for this ZZP stuff

In other news, heres something you will all like, first tests of gas mileage on highway

Test 1, 20 mile trip in the rain at 55-60 using cruise 42.0MPG

Test 2, 100 mile trip at 70-80mph using cruse 37.6MPG

I thought these were flukes initially but I confirmed I went 100 miles on just a 1/4 tank, exhaust, acc pulleys, new flywheel, ignition, lightweight rims, the best is yet to come, I havent even touched the spark advance just yet. I'm sure getting rid of the ricer wing and going wingless has something to do with it also.

Yes, yes I know, needs rims and a drop, all in good time. Tires, exhaust, and water injection are more immediate concerns.
