View Full Version : Turbo Wax - Trailblazer SS Detail/Correction

Turbo Wax and myself came together on a little demo/trial of some of their main products. The vehicle was my father's 2007 Trailblazer SS. The paint was not in terrible shape by any means; however, it was in need of more than just a simple once over wax. They sent me pretty much everything I needed to take this paint from "OK" to an absolutely great, deep, slippery finish. This review is in no way, shape, or form just a thread to help boost their reputation, but an unbiased review from someone who details car regularly.

To begin I will show what they sent me, and what my thoughts on the product were.

Car Shampoo-
http://www.turbowax.com/prod/turbo-wax-car-shampoo-4-oz.html

This was a sign of good things to come. I was floored by the amount of suds and the slipperiness that this product delivered. By far the best soap I have ever used. A+ across the board

I then proceeded, hesitantly to say the least, to use their "Bug and Oxidation Remover Bar"

http://www.turbowax.com/prod/turbo-wax-oxidation-bug-remover-bar.html

I wasnt too sure about this thing before using it because of the inability to fold the product over like you do with a clay bar. I decided to only use it on the front of the truck and some real trouble spots behind the rear wheels from VHT/Rubber build up. This stuff would not come out with washing of any kind. The bar took it right off and left NO sign of anything behind, as the pictures show-

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c37/hatrickstu/tbss%20detail/IMG_2712.jpg

I am still not sure if this product was intended as an alternative to clay for the whole vehicle, or for trouble spots as shown above. Turbo Wax can clear this up. For the things I used it on, this product was absolutely great. Again, another A+.

Sidenote- as a lubricant with this bar and the clay that I used, I simply used a bit of Turbo Wax's car shampoo with some water in a spray bottle.

The next set of products used were the orange pad, white pad, and Swirl Remover (used after a rewash, and drying) White pad with the SR was used after the orange pad with SR. They included a bottle of compound as well, but I did not feel the paint was in bad enough shape to warrant that degree of cut-

http://www.turbowax.com/prod/swirl-remover-pad-buffing-pad.html

Here are before and after pics of 2 panels after only the SR and no final wax applied-

As you can see it does a more than adequate job for a polish. These results are typical of a light compounding, but with a much deeper finish than you will get with most compounds. Very impressed with the results, but I have on complaint. The product is quite thick which is fine, but this leads to having to use a little more product than I usually do. This is not necassarily bad in itself, but it leads to ALOT of product having to be removed. I found myself going through more towels in order to remove the product than usual. This is a very minimal problem with the product, and I would still highly recommend this to others. A in my book, just have alot of microfibers on hand ;)

Now that the paint is ready to be finished off I used their Car Wax as the final step. I applied this with a finishing pad of my own, but I am sure they have a pad they can recommend.

http://www.turbowax.com/prod/turbo-wax-car-wax-4-oz.html

Before using the product, I was expecting a deep shine, but expected a little less "hardness," typical of most sealants, such as the Poorboys EX Sealant I have been using. First off, this product is extremely easy to apply, and take off. I used two microfiber towels to remove everthing, and then followed it up with the Turbo Wax microfiber glove. I was VERY impressed with both the exreme depth and OUTRAGEOUS hardness of the paint after this. It is actually a harder finish than my PB sealant.

The best way to describe how the paint felt is this: for those that use regular off the shelp one stage waxes, you can tell the difference in slickness prewax and postwax with a regular terry-cloth towel, pretty slick right? Well, then run a microfiber towel over it, kind of sticks to the paint then, right? Well imagine how slick the paint feels with the terry cloth, but with a microfiber. Kind of hard to describe, but take my word for it, this wax is for real. I obviously can not attest to the durability yet, but I can come report on that later. Definately an A+! Anyways now for the good stuff!

NEVER NEVER NEVER let a dealer wash your car haha.

Yeah the highschool kid that tried detialing it real quick. He actually waxed the hood in swirls, i was like... have you ever detailed a black car before? I got the car back and still had extra wax on the hood, had to use a diaper to wipe it down.

Gunna send it to someone who knows what they are doing now to fix it, which won't be cheap.

it sure wont be! at least you realize that haha, some of my customers are like "why does it cost so much?" i just slap myself in the face and explain it over and over

dude come live in AR for 3 months and id like to see how your car looks after 3 weeks. if you work a full time day job you will most likely only be able to wash your car once a month if that. the weather is so random that you could walk out and say im gonna wash my car go inside to get something and it start raining before you get outside.

Thank you for your great review!

Just so everyone knows how we got to this point, hatrickstu had previously participated in some of or threads in our dedicated section, many times he had ask very good questions and was always eager to find out about our products, for a long time we watch some of his work which he has obtained very good results, after seen that, we decided to approach him and kindly ask him if he could be willing to participating in a test, I like to mention that we have never spoken before, we don’t know him and he doesn’t work for us, it happens to be a selected person for a partial test as we have done many, many times in the past.

Every time you carry this type of adventure you run a huge risk of not getting an honest and true opinion, to say that is not nerve breaking is an understatement, the only reason we do this tests is because we are so confident in our products, and that’s why we do such of test from time to time.

Regarding our Oxidation block, we usually don’t use a spray bottle at all, we prepare the bucket with the car shampoo, we wet the car real good and we dip the oxidation block in the bucket as we go, this oxidation block is not designed to fold in half like your conventional “clay bar” this block will remove the oxidation and overspray like conventional “clay bars” however this is a new generation product and something fairly new to many people.

This product won the most “Innovative” product of the year at a mayor car care convention in Asia from over 200 products.

We are delighted that you got the same results as we do when using our products, we may not be the best product in the world, but then again we don’t claim that, for us is all about the passion of the automobile which we share with many of our customers.

If you want some products that will deliver great results, same day shipping, priority service at no extra charge, one FREE promotional item which EVERY order, I suggest you give us a try, you won’t be disappointed :twothumbs

thanks again hatrickstu !

on that bar, so does it just remove the product and not stay on the bar? reason i ask is because you could see no visible evidence of stuff being left on the bar, but could tell the bar had been working. that would make sense then!

I know that if I try to got to sleep without posting this I wont be able to sleep so here goes, I can only assume that the PM never got to you, in there I wrote detail steps for the oxidation block and few other tips, regarding the plastic bag.

Very often we wax an automobile, we step back and we admire all that hard work, further more when the neighbour praises our work we feel like a rock star. At first glance the surface is shinny, smooth, lots of reflections; even if you touch it with your bare hand it feels smooth.

We are happy, not so fast…….. what we see and what we feel at that moment, is far away from the reality of what a good product can do, the test to be carried out is simple, after waxing your vehicle using a thin clear plastic sandwich bag, you place the bag in your hand like a glove, with your four fingers together you pass them into the surface, you will be amaze at what you will feel, under all that clear shinny coat of wax you will find tons of contaminants, contaminants that at simple view you will never be able to see, that is why the pre work is so important and that’s why we have a Pre Wax to ensure that our surface is prepared the best possible condition, that is why we use the oxidation block, Pre Wax and Then the final step the wax.

Even right now if you walk to the SS you can do the test and do the same with any other vehicle you have at the moment, you will clearly see what I’m talking about and that is one of the many reasons why there are $30.00 detail jobs and $1,000 detail jobs.

Give it a try, it will open your eyes for ever .

man its awesome i have had it dropped with Kbee coilovers for about 2 years now and it has been nice. They just have made the rear ones that im getting to take out the slop in the rear from low pressure in the bags.
if you want more info on them go to tbssowners.com
Theres a GB on both sets right now and i wish i had got my front ones that cheap.
I had about 800 in the front and the rears im getting for about 550.

this thread is like a msg from god lol

I was just looking at my car today and saying to myself that I really need to give it a good wax. I've been looking at a whole bunch of products for days now not knowing which one to choose.

Then out of no where this thread comes up  It inspired me to see actual results. I'm gonna browse your site now.

Got any suggestions. I'm a novice at this for sure. I've never waxed my car since I bought it. I live in Canada and drive it all year long. I do wash it so much its not even funny, but as you can imagine its not in PRIME shape.

I used the TW Headlight Restoration kit for the first time about 8 weeks ago, they are still optically clear and I haven't touched them since, where as normally I have been putting Meg's PlastiX on every week, and the haze just comes back inside a few days. Not now. ;)
