Has anyone on here ever built their own intake by buying the parts at pep-boys?

 

yep. and you'll get your full $19 worth. i made one before, took it off because the inside is painted and starts to chip off. and i'm sure that can't be good for your engine.

and it works pretty well for him

 

i cheaped out on my first cobalt, just got whatever was cheapest. and in the end, it was slow, and sounded like dog ****. this time around with the 2.0 i spent the extra money to get quality stuff, and it's well worth it, even though it's more expensive.
