No Ss Whats Up!!

Dealer told me his guys talked to GM reps at Philly Auto show and they said SS wont start production till June/July as a 06, meaning no 05 they told me will be coming at anytime soon, and i guess that means theres no such thing as 05, WHATS GOING ON WITH THIS CAR.

no '05 SS as in the 2.2 liter..
there's a difference inthe 2.0 liter supercharged SS (coming this month)and the 2.2 liter non-supercharged(starting as an '06 model year)

2.4 w/ 170hp...my badam
and yes the search feature would have led you to this or the main topic in the performance section "2.4 liter EcoTec 170 hp. Not available first year of production"

new here, and just want to say that i went to a dealer today and he told me that he could not order me a ss s/c, because they are not being produced untill later in the year. i told him that he must be talking about the non s/c ss, and he insisted that all ss coupes will be later in the year. he still would not let me order. so i dont know what is going on.

same here

just got home from my dealer as well... i walked in, he took one look at me and told me to go home. no info at all. and he said good luck... he looked on his comp at dealerworld.com and it still said start up restriction and dealer allocation 0% while the coupes are at 15% and the base are at 30%...

Those salespeople don't know squat...don't listen to them. Get on www.chevrolet.com and call their number. You may have to wait 30 minutes to finally talk to someone, but they will tell you what they know which is a hell of a lot more than some salespeople.

i totally agree. it really is surprising how clueless dealers are about this and most other cars...while i was at home over break, i had to pretty much educate the salesmen and the GM on it. they wanted me too after they found out how much i knew about the Z06 even before there was official information on it. If most dealers would do REAL research, or if chevy would simply update dealers like they should, to acheive some sort of synergy, the world would be a perfect place then wouldnt it?

I spoke to a dealer here today, (I have already cancelled my original order through a dealer thatr doesn't know if/when they will get any), and he told me (with a GM rep in his office) that if I ordered it by next week it would be built during the week of Mar 14, and delivered in April.
Don't know if it is bullshit or not, but that is the latest I have been told.

i agree that chevy should educate the dealers more, because it is a shame that i know more about a car and its features than the dealer. when i was there earlier today, the salesman told me that they are making a s/c version of the ls coupe. i told him that there would be a base ss with a 2.4 engine making 170 hp, and a 2.0 engine making 205 hp. he insisted that i was misinformed and that they are making a s/c 2.2 ls coupe. i dont think the dealers have a clue what chevys plans are with the cobalt. the salesmans also said that if any one is taking orders on the s/c ss, they wont get them because they are now being delayed. he refused to let me order one. any suggestions on a way i can get my name on a list to order one.

I hope this is just a spoof..that would suck it they didn't make it out till then, although that's probably when i'd be buying mine. The car has been delayed several times now and the only positive thing is I'd rather they fix something before the car goes into production.

This a repeat but since July is a hot topic again. On Dec. 14th I was told, prior to placing my order, that I would not see the car until July. I took this to mean, "Don't place the order if you're not willing to wait". I had stopped in a week or so before that and was told they had just removed the Sun Roof restriction from the SS s/c. If the car arrives sooner great, but at least my dealer put me in the right mind-set. "Don't call us we'll call you".

Yeah, this screwed a lot of people over... JohnKB8, sorry to hear about your situation but if you sold your car Monday, what have you been driving since then? Do you have a winter beater you could drive until then?

On the bright side, I'm not going to have to worry about any Cobalts being faster than me for another few months. I'm sure there'll be a FEW exceptions. But I really wanted to see how I'd do against an SS/SC right now.

So, I was just at a car show here in Edmonton and there was no Cobalt SS... There was a Cobalt coupe of some sort as well as a Pursuit however. The guy I asked told me that it wouldn't be here till summer anyway. Well, a much better season for test driving...

Well guys....I work at a crossdock(ships parts to about 20 diff plants) for GM and Lordstown has been working 6 days for the past month or so. So hopefully that means your wait will be short lived.
