GM accessory center armrest on a 5 speed
GM accessory center armrest on a 5 speed
Has anyone installed the GM accessory center armrest on a 5 speed Cobalt SS? Does this work ok? This setup is not a option from the factory, so there must be reason.
I just bought a stage 2 kit, 2-Pass Intercooler End Plate, and the center arm rest. Does the arm rest get returned?(other stuff stays) …

only the SCs didn't come with one as an option, no one seems to know why other than it can be in the way slightly if down while driving. mine is up most of the time.

i thought those rims were just on the concept ones....
just like cc08 say's yes it get's in the way of your e brake , but you wont be driving your car with the e brake up any way , it's nice to have if you will be driving long distance's , i had it on my 06 lt and im glad it was there , plus it has a small storage space in it for insurance card's and etc !!
armrest is not in the way of the ebrake when i use it. lift up on it with out the button. then to release, lift up slightly, push button, then set it back down. if you just try to push the button then it is hard to get it to release with the armrest down. the lifting up slightly before pushing the button makes it easer to release.

I guess when GM was testing the SS/SC they decided that during full track racing/driving it "could" get in the way of some drivers while shifting, that is why it was not an available option. (I asked one of the GMPP engineers, lol)
As for it being in the way of the e-brake... ummm no, I've never had to lift mine to raise/lower the brake handle.
