new car / new noise

i just got the 08 turbo, and im wondering if any other 08 owners are hearing the same noise i am, ive researched and read that the almost clock like noise is the normal sound created by the direct injection and the isane amount of pressure to do this, but at first it didnt make this noise..any one else?

It is a result of the direct injection.

thanks denny...this car is awesome and very quick...well my wife just said it perfectly...like an old school noise maker that youd spin really fast to make that rattle snake on crack sound...

thanks everyone...just nervous...would hate to break it after only 200 miles

And raise underhood heat, not a good idea in my opinion.

wasn't there a clearance issue with the TC's that prevented GM from putting under hood blankets on them in the first place ?

When i checked the clearance out on my car it looked close if there is one on there looks like there would be no air circulation over the engine

The LNF ticks like a sewing machine.

Get an exhaust, you won't hear it anymore.

Speaking of noises, is the turbo/bypass loud enough to hear in the cabin with the windows down? My girlfriend really likes that noise but I thought you needed blowoffs to really hear anything other than the spooling whirring.

I can hear it with windows down or up if I have the radio off. Might be more noticable from the passenger side since thats the compressor side of the turbo.

I can hear my BOV though the stock airbox on my Solstice. It's much louder on the cars with an intake on it.

That's good news, I didn't get to test drive an SS/TC so I'm kind of flying blind into this purchase. I did test an 08 Sport recently and an 06 SC a long time ago, but the driving characteristics of the SS/TC will be totally different.

I'm not disappointed at all so far. As long as nothing changes I think that will stay the same.

Well.. major things have changed between the SS/SC and SS/TC... re-tuned suspension, new front lower control arms, better brakes, and an increased turning radius.

All these things will add to a fresh new driving feel, even for a daily driver.

You hosers can buy the GXP valve cover blanky. It's like dynomat that is cut to the shape of the valve cover.

My GXP has it but mine still clicks as well. Does anyone want to trade valve covers, I'll take a shiny SS cover for my blanketed GXP cover.
