Hey guys.
Took off the antenna today and covered the post with a battery terminal cover for a 6volt battery.
Fit perfectly, so I filled the cap up with hot glue and stuck it on!

I just happened to have it lying around in my junk drawer, and it is the EXACT same diameter as the smaller circle on the antenna mount.
I still get the local FM and AM stations, and i barely listen to radio anyways, 99% of the time its a CD.

Yes i know car is filthy in pictures. It's been exams here and continues to be until tuesday, no time to wash the jeep or 'balt.
Well i'm off to keep studying!

Should have just cut your stock mast off, re-paint the base, and done. No glue, can easily be removed later, and works better than nothing at all.

Yeah, but what if at some point I want to put the original antenna back on?

All I have to do now is pry the cap off, and scrape a little hot glue off the post, and then reinstall the factory antenna.

I did basically the same thing.

I took off the antenna, shrink wrapped the post twice, then put some black silicone sealant on top

Same result

Get another antenna? Its not likely that you will have to do anything with it.

I did it because I have a couple extra antennas, I was working at Chevy when a hurricane hit, so I grabbed a couple bent antennas and cut them.

Hey, nice job. I found a rubber "nub" in the garage and used it in the same idea, but mine is just a screw on.
I only ever use XM or my ipod so i don't care.

Yeah, i can't pick up the far-away stations at all now. Just the local stuff, and it comes in clear.

Like I said, i barely use the radio, and when I do its usually the local AM news station.
