Woohoo!!!!
Woohoo!!!!
PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS AT A 1000 FOOT TRACK!
So I finally got to drive the car I have been dying to get ahold of with some new mods. I drive a guys BMW M-Roadster (Z3 body style) for him at Centerville and had a previous best of 10.83 @ 98 with a 2.03 60 foot in stock form. It got back from California on Thursday with a Vortech blower installed and ready for action. The company who installed the kit base lined the car at 270 hp and said all of the cars they have installed this on put down minimum of 385 whp on California 91 octane gas. On 93 it is probably putting down about 410-415 on 5-6psi. He also had a new clutch installed, and this helped out alot on the shifts because the old one simply would not hold on a hard 2-3.
Anyways, onto the good stuff. Took a couple runs to figure the car out and get it to hook. It was tricky seeing as how the clutch had no slip and was on low pro 245 pilots. Got the tire pressure and launch down pretty well and squeezed out a 10.31 at 105 with a 1.96 60 foot. I was freaking stoked and extremely impressed. The owner was hoping for 10.5's so he was also very excited. I will post the slip up when he e-mails it to me. I was very impressed that it picked up 18 mph from the 1/8 - 1000. I believe it went 8.1 in the 1/8

Simple 100K mile 302 with gt40X heads and a comp cam. Mild 3.55 gears, a **** launch on bfg 275/50/15 drag radials, and a 1.88 60 foot. I pulled a 1.75 60 foot on my all motor pass and it went 12.70@108. The 7.88 1/8 mile pass was on a 90 shot, and it went 12.0@116mph in the 1/4. Should go easy 11s if I can get it to hook as good on nitrous as I did on the motor. Either that or I'm sticking the 125 jets in.

build up some rep at the track and people will start tossing you keys

Alright, here it is, and remember, this is a **** launch, on just a 90 shot, with 85 degrees and like 60% humidity, high DA. If I had got a 1.75 60 foot again it would have been an easy 11.80@116ish pass. There is a lot more in the car, but I have to granny shift the stupid thing because I got screwed on a transmission deal and the synchro's are **** in 3rd and 4th gear. My buddy has a video of the pass and its funny because you can hear me take like literarly a half second to shift into 4th.

And just for reference here are some incr. comparisons

Your 60-330 split- 3.32
BMW 60-330 split- 3.34
Your 330-1/8 split- 2.68
BMW 330-1/8 split- 2.82
Your 1/8- 1000 split- 2.32
BMW 1/8- 1000split- 2.19
You picked up 25 mph on the back half, and the BMW picked up 18 mph in just the 1/8-1000, so don’t let that 8.1 fool you. This is a fast car in need of traction, DR’s alone will put it well into your 60 foot time, and easily run low 7.8’s in the 1/8 due to the lack of tire spin in 2nd as well. ( I was shifting it 1,000 rpm early on 1-2 to even get it to semi-hook on the shift)
Just thought id do a little math to show this is a serious car
No doubt, I'm not ******* the BMW, impressive numbers, I'm just say'n that I thought some of the faster cobalts on this site were tickling those numbers...............
Oh and FYI that 12.1 run was my FIRST TIME EVER running the car on a 90 shot with absolutely no tuning and granny shifting it. The car runs 110 on motor so for it to only trap 116 on a 90 shot is evidence of the horribly slow shifting slowing the car down.
Impressive numbers for the beamer no doubt, but I've still got like $30K less in my stang, LOL.

that's where you'd be wrong. lol. unfortunatley, we don't really have "fast" cobalts on here. haha.
