Question Cutting the back springs??

Ok I'm not the smartest but damn my back end looks like those handicapped taxi's , u know the ones with the tall back end!! Anyways I was wondering if I could just cut down my back springs to make my car even out with the front? I don't see a point in buying a lowering kit if only my ass is high eh? Oh if I can do it without any real problems, is it easy? I'd do it all by hand!!! PLEASE HELP.

please do NOT cut your stock springs. your ride will NEVER ride the same. you will more than likely lose control on the rear on a hard turn too. you will be driving around w/ your rear jumping all over the place and crooked if you don't cut them identically. it's just not worth it. get some lowering springs and don't half ass it.

^^^ Exactly. Cutting springs is the stupidest thing you can do. Not only will ride suffer you will be endangering your life. Spend the money and buy lowering springs and do it right.

If you cut progressive rate springs you will totaly unbalance the car. Talk to a technical person at one of the companies and see if their rear springs have similar rates to the stock and are just shorter. If you knews what the spring rate is there are places that could make springs just for this.

Don't EVER cut your springs, dumbest thing you could possibly do, like others have already stated. Either get custom springs made to lower just the rear or bite the bullet and buy lowering springs, which will even out the front and back of your car. If you don't want that much of a drop, just get the Eibach Pro Kit, it'll lower the back to meet the front. If you have the 2.4 or 2.0 it won't lower the front at all, if you have the 2.2 it'll lower the front a little, but it'll also lower the back more.

Like everyone said above cutting springs is not a good idea, just save up and do it right, save even more and get a nice coilover kit down the road.
