So my first whisper resonator was rattling from day one. it would only rattle for a few minutes and then i guess the baffle would expand and not rattle anymore???? Well it gradually got worse to the point where the rattle never went away and it was embarrassing. So I ordered a new one. they said once i got the new one to send in the defective one and I would recieve a refund. WEll yesterday (new one came in today), the "defective" one broke even more! THE INLET CAME OFF. I guess there just wasn't enough tig welding. So until this morning I had an open exhaust :thumbsdow.

So i get the new resonator installed this morning and guess what?! RATTLES. Son of a bitch, piece of shit, mother f*****, jc, gd..... (you get the idea). I have 308 dollars plus installation (twice) deposited into this rattling resonator. your talking about 350+ dollars that i have out there right now trying to get a good resonator.

They told me they want me to send both back to them today so they can test on the in-house cobalt. Then the guy will personally send me one that DOES not rattle. Very frustrating considering my order for the first resonator was placed march 11. Thought I would share...anybody considering buying a whisper, wait till this gets fixed!

Does your rattle sound almost like sticking something in the blades of a fan? I installed my resonator and it doesn't rattle but there is a weird sound coming from it.

Sounds like they are doing there best to work with you and get you one that doesn't rattle... ZZP is a good company and will do there best to make you happy (within reason of course).

I know it sucks but have some patience and things will work out :twothumbs

If I didn't have faith in the product that they sell....I wouldn't have bought so many things from them. THey are doing everything they can to resolve the issue, the thread was just to catch the attention of anyone considering getting one soon. I would wait till they figure it out.

No, it sounds like rattle. Like something loose in the resonator vibrating against the metal.

we need everybody having this problem to post up here. they are going to test them on their in house cobalt to find out what the problem is. More complaints then the more urgent they will be to fix the problem.

its that harmful?

LamboW9
06-25-2008, 09:42 AM
the resonator is not harmful if its ticking..but the other guy said his welds actually broke....could you imagine going down the road and your welds breaking on your exhaust?

yea, it starts with a rattle, then it gets worse, and before you know it the inlet housing will just fall off and you will have an open exhaust. That was the timeline for my first whisper. I know its a pain to go through this crap, but I would get it fixed. too much money for something to rattle and be embarrasing in drive thrus....

i had a rattling problem that i THOUGHT whas my resonator, but i finally caught the rattle and it was my cat/exhaust rattling agains the underbody, it was hung JUST past the point of contact so when it heated up it would rattle like crazy, and even started to rattle all the time, very embarrasing sound as it sounds like a piece of shit 85 civic or something, i just got the exhaust hangers adjusted and i havent heard it since! i am not saying this IS your problem, but anyone else experiencing the notorious "rattle" make sure you check here first! i made a thread about this, and it has solved the problem for quite a few guys on here now....

my second resonator and it only rattles with a resonator installed. Can't mistake it when the car is up on a lift running and you are standing underneath the resonator. you're lucky though...cograts

it sounds like rattling. If it is making a loud weird noise (even randomly at idle)...then tahts what we are talking about

they got my resonator on tue, and got my second one today (remember I mailed them two, one broken....one was brand new and rattling already). They said they should begin testing tomorrow and try to figure out the problem so they can maybe ship some by the end of next week. Please everybody contact them. I want them to be as urgent about this as I am....My exhaust sucks and I have had to wait WAY TOO LONG. (ordered first resonator 3/11/08)

just had a co-worker rev my car while was under it, confirmed that it's coming from around the cat or flex pipe and it's not a leak as a result of bolts being loose.

just heard back from zoomer, and he's being very accomodating.

i always felt like things will not always be perfect. that's the world we live in. sometimes you get something that is not what you expected. and that's fine. as long as the company you got it from makes it right. and that's what they're doing.

I don't want anyone to get me wrong. I am really upset with the hassell I am dealing with, but the customer service at zzp is SUPERB! That makes a shitty situation just gassy. I will not turn my back on ZZP as long as they continue to show the respect for us as the consumer. they have been excellent.

I will second that. ZZP has really shown me what customer service is about. I'm glad I opted to go with them for my header dp solution. I'm in need of a resonator tho now cuz my magnaflow exhaust is way too loud w/ header dp on.

Somebody send me one of the broken ones that rattle. PM me if your wanting to get rid of it. I"ll deal w/ it.

I Like ZZP. When I had my Grand Prix I bought one of their turbo kits, fuel injectors, heck I bought everything from them. I ordered one day, it was at my door the next UPS ground. Great Customer Service! I also gave them like $4K over 3 years but it was fun :cssNET:

Superb my ass.... They sent me spark plugs that didnt fit the damn car, then wanted me to ship them back so they could sell me something more expensive. Ten dollars for a set of plugs, plus ten dollars to ship them back.........double the price of plugs FTL!!!

I guess I shouldnt complain, I only got shafted for ten dollars...........their off my list just because of that. Mistakes happen, they handled mine for shit, even after they achknowleged the f up.

This doesn't sound like an accurate representation of the situation. I don't know what happened but your story is not how we normally handle things. Please PM me with your original order number.

QUOTED EMAIL!

Alright, can you send them back and we can offer you the 1 step cooler ones or a deal on a different style plug?

Thank you for your business,

I replied that it would cost me the same as I paid for the plugs to send them back, and that I wanted the two step colder, and was told you only had 1 step colder plugs. After checking your sight again, the two step option was removed that day. I never received a reply after that. As I said, it just didnt make much sense for me to send back a set of spark plugs, costing me shipping charge, to just get the same amount back. Either way I was out that money. I have the original emails, and dont believe I was ever given an order number , as it was burried in with the Header/Downpipe refund, so everything went through email, and the remainder from the downpipe money was refunded. I have saved all the emails though, and would be happy to send them to you.
