I'm gonna be honest. My opinion is you can have a ton of performance and crappy gas mileage or excellent gas mileage and no performance. Now me, i would much rather have horsepower and just say screw the mileage. What are your opinions?

the whole point is not sacrificing performance and gaining fuel economy..

most of the time.. fuel economy is sacrificed due to people giving up on fuel economy.. You can have 700+hp and 20+mpg...

balance...it's all about balance, and what you actually intend to use your car for. If it's going to be a straight out street warrior, track baby, then yes HP over MPG everytime. But if it's you DD, mod it yes, but keep it senseable.

most any time you add more power you get better fuel eco.. but most people that do performance mods end up with their heavy ass foot in the pedal all the time and never see the added fuel eco they get from it.. more power means it takes less for you engine to move your car at the same rate as a car with less power therefor you get better mileage as long as you dont hammer on it all the time.

how to get good fuel economy in a car: lightweight car, small displacement
how to get horsepower out of a car: large displacement, volumetric efficiency
now obviously the large displacement and small displacement categories negate each other, but nothing prevents you from having a lightweight car, with a small displacement motor, with amazing VE via a turbocharger

there is alot more to gas milage than jost those few things look at the zo6 vette, alot of people who own them get 31 32 mpg thats great for a 427 sb....

anyways i get 35 mpg at least and its all stop and go traffic. so it can be done pretty easy both hp and mpg

hell yea you can have both that's why I'm going to get a CAI exhaust and tune yea its not what I had planned but new camaro is coming out soon so no point to do too much to the car I and sure that's not what you call performance but if I dropped to a stage two sixty's and cooling mods I still can get even better mileage as these econoboxes love power

Hate to be an ass but if all you get is 18-21 you need to change your sig cuz my mustang with stock gears would do 17mpg in town  J/P, even in stop and go you should get better mpg than that. i dont know how many miles you have on yours but i noticed i am getting alot better mileage with my car now that it is around 13k miles than i was at 6-8k miles.

As the owner of an '07 SS/SC, I think you can have both economy and performance. I think the SS/SC and probably the SS/TC are probably perfect examples of this. The power is there when you need it, but if you're careful, you can still get 30-40mpg no problem. It's just buying the premium fuel where it hurts a tad, even though I'm not complaining.

And that's the reason why gas is so expensive. LOL... I'm gonna owrk on getting better performance parts but I gave up on buying the new Camaro :( Gas is too ridiculous.

who can tell me what would be the best gas pump tp get for the ss?? I dont really care about the mileage because my ss is not my daily driver I only use some times. All I want is performance.
