Sound files are up.

We did an install today on a 2.2L Pontiac Pursuit.

I'm hoping this will work. Both videos were made using the owners laptop with integrated cmaera and microphone. You need Quicktime to open.

Before install: stock manifold, stock down-pipe, Clear Image Auto 2 1/2" exhaust system and TriFecta tuning.

After install: added 1 5/8" 4-into 1 mid-length header and 2 1/2" hi-flow converter down-pipe.

We will try to get sound files of the 3" system up next.

Also, I am doing my best to get our exhaust systems priced and posted.

that sounds nice and quiet with the stock header but it really wakes up with your header added. i think it sounds great.

could you post the part numbers for the mufflers and give a price estimate on that system?

Here's all the details. I posted pictures in the vendors section.

New Exhaust sale from Clear Image Automotive

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are happy to announce our new line of exhaust systems for the Cobalt.

We do all of our own mandrel bending, assembly and welding here at our shop in Kent, WA. Other systems may be less expensive coming in from over-sees and there is nothing we can do about that. What we can do is stand by our products and customers 110%. When you order products from Clear Image Automotive you know those products were developed on cars from owners on this forum and our local area. We asked what the community wanted in an exhaust system, listened to the local owners and built our system to those requests. Our exhaust systems fit better than stock and sound & perform great.

All R&D has been done on the 2 1/2" as well as the 3" system. We chose to use Magnaflow muffler, resonator and tip.

Tubing will be available in both aluminized steel and 304 stainless steel.
The tip is the only part of the exhaust mirror polished.

Both size exhaust systems will bolt to the factory down-pipe with the 3" exhaust using a slip-fit design to adapt to a 3" down-pipe if desired.

Here is a sound clip of our 2 1/2" system on a 2.2L engine:
http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/...s/exhaust1.mov

We do not have a sound clip of the 3" system yet.

Retail prices for the 3" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $527.54
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $604.68

Retail price for the 2 1/2" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $503.48
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $575.62

We have been very well received on this forum and we wanted to show our appreciation for all of YOUR support. Rather than host a traditional Group Purchase we have elected to offer a killer price on the first 20 orders. No tier pricing. For an exhaust system made 100% in the United states using parts made 100% in the United states, I doubt you'll find any better value .

Sale prices for the 3" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $395.66
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $453.51

Sale prices for the 2 1/2" system:
aluminized steel tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $377.61
304 stainless tubing with stainless resonator, muffler and tip - $431.71

Plus shipping.

NOTE: Our stainless systems are made of 100% 304 stainless steel. The Magnaflow muffler & resonator are 409 stainless and the Magnaflow tip is 304 stainless, but it is slightly magnetic which indicates a lower grade 304. other companies advertising "stainless" exhaust systems tend to use 409 becayuse they are able to use the marketing advantage of calling their system stainless while still being able to keep their costs down by using 409. If the muffler, resonator and tip were available in 100% 304 we would prefer it. One way to check the purity of your stainless exhaust system is to test with a magnet. Pure 304 is not magnetic in any way, shape or form. 409 has a high carbon steel content, polishes like 304 but will rust and is very magnetic. If your exhaust system is advertised as "304 stainless", it should not be magnetic... If it is, even slightly, it is a low quality 304. This is what is used in almost every exhaust system being imported from other countries. We are looking into making & offering our own line of 100% pure 304 stainless mufflers. We'll keep everyone posted.
