TVS_SS 07-07-2008, 09:08 PM and your pushing a democrat to get in office?
Have you read all the Goverment Mandates he wants to put on the auto industry? More government control.. yippee!! Next thing you'll see is a 55mph speed limit again..
if your a fan of LESS government control, you have it all backwards..

Have you researched Obamas stance on the auto industry vs Mcains?
please dont go there...this is about VA's stance on there laws. Also, the reason I'm voting for Obama has actually has nothing to do with this particular issue
Stouffer 07-07-2008, 09:11 PM Good find.

Im not trying to... but if you want to look at the "big picture" it actually has ALOT to do with it. Dont kid yourself.
If you change this law in VA, the national limits will trump VA laws very soon.. trust me, the auto industry and tuner market is in for a large shake up.. However both candidates will go against the typical "modified vehicle".. So read up, make good choices.. thats all im saying!
what was the exact citation..?

Not really seeing as this is a commonwealth. Here in VA they barely go by any federal laws in issues concerning motor vehicles. Thats why I say this has nothing to do with the national picture. In the commonwealth things are more different than anywhere else. If you live here you should understand that but if not you wouldn't
darkendryu2049 07-08-2008, 11:08 AM uh oh... is it illegal to have a pacesetter exhaust, headers, and injen intake here???
blackngold20 07-08-2008, 11:39 AM what was the exact citation..?
It said improper exhaust...
Here's what VA law says
§ 46.2-1049. Exhaust system in good working order.
No person shall drive and no owner of a vehicle shall permit or allow the operation of any such vehicle on a highway unless it is equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual levels of noise; provided however, that for motor vehicles, such exhaust system shall be of a type installed as standard factory equipment, or comparable to that designed for use on the particular vehicle as standard factory equipment. An exhaust system shall not be deemed to prevent excessive or unusual noise if it permits the escape of noise in excess of that permitted by the standard factory equipment exhaust system of private passenger motor vehicles or trucks of standard make.
The term "exhaust system," as used in this section, means all the parts of a vehicle through which the exhaust passes after leaving the engine block, including mufflers and other sound dissipative devices.
Chambered pipes are not an effective muffling device to prevent excessive or unusual noise, and any vehicle equipped with chambered pipes shall be deemed in violation of this section.
(Code 1950, § 46-305; 1952, c. 455; 1956, c. 651; 1958, c. 541, § 46.1-301; 1960, c. 120; 1970, c. 266; 1972, c. 66; 1989, c. 727; 2006, cc. 529, 538.)

I have a gmpp exhaust and manifold. Basically, doesn't say you cant change the exhaust but it can only be to a system that meets OEM standard. Most cops don't care here, I just so happy to run into some rookie bitch thats all, in Hampton
