kwest 07-09-2008, 01:24 AM Hey guys, who in here is running my similar mods with a wet shot of nitrous? im looking into purchasing a full set up for nitrous from dynotune here in the next month. including the kit with 10lb bottle, rpm/tps switch,bottle pressure gauge, pressure controlled warmer,remote bottle opener,and purge kit...how is the nitrous working with you guys? im looking at a 50 shot max, but most likely a 35 just to be safe...posting pics would be cool too!!!
Kibosh3 07-09-2008, 02:01 PM welcome to the nitrous realm...we have similar mods... from my experience, ive learned that you need a proper flowing exhaust to run the nitrous nicely...i just clogged my stock cat from running too rich with my meth & nitrous together...gotta tone down the meth mix lol....no direct correlation to having nitrous...but im sure it was "the icing on the cake"
but seeing your mod list, you should be fine as long as you take all the neccessary precautions before you spray (ie, knowing bottle pressure, keeping an eye on afr's, etc...)

UmeNNis 07-09-2008, 02:05 PM A 50 shot should be fine. I'm not sure with a 2.7/2.8, but I have heard of multiple people running stage 2 type setups and running 50shots all day long with no problems. And x2 on the at LEAST 2.5" catback setup w/hi flow cat (preferably no cat if you can get away with it)
kwest 07-09-2008, 02:33 PM yea i know alot of stage 2s running the 50 as well. but im trying to shoot for 320-350whp....and for under a $1000 nitrous is the way to go cuz i cant afford the tvs (im only 18 years old and living on my own!!!) haha i know i would need to purchase a wideband to monitor afr, or dynotune sales this neat afr reader that if the afr gets to out of whack it automatically shuts down the nitrous to prevent detonation....so im considering that. um i have the zzp downpipe with highflow cat...and im about to get a new header. would you guys think itd be worth it to upgrade to a 3in exhaust with no cat downpipe? keep in mind my downpipe is 3inches but has 2.5in bolt on flanges...
my header is whats restrictive...i have the gm extrude honed manifold. i have a buddy sell;ing hte cobalt addiction v1 header to 100 bucks, i might pick that up. but if yall think i should go 3'' then i might not buy it
oh and i also will be custom dyno tuned in the next week to two weeks....so its gunna take me probably a month or so to piece everything together...longer if i have to buy all new exhaust components.

with 60's and a 2.7-2.8 pulley you are running a high enough output to where a 3" may be beneficial...especially with nitrous, go for the midlength header, dp combo from zzp....and get the 1 3/4 primaries....plus a midlength header an dp give you a better more even powerband and spread the torque out more than a shorty header does.

yea thats what i was taling about in my last post. do you guys kmnow if i could simply cut my cat out and weld in a 3inch straight pipe, then cut the 2.5in bolt in connector to my ehxuast, weld in a 3inch pipe all the way back and cut my muffler off my megan exhaust and weld into the 3inch pipe?? itd be a hell of alot cheaper...

Uhm... sure... if it will pass inspections wherever you are at. And... it will sound like shit most likely.... Buuutt I don't see why not

hahahaa...oh well. its worth a try. i think id do just the 35 shot a few times and see how that works out. and i have to order everything peice by peice...i cant just do $1000 up front right now. But im working on a midlength 1.75" primaries header and a 3" catless downpipe now to support all this stuff. my car is guna sound like shit, but like i said before, it still shouldnt be like no damn honda! ha

zinner 07-23-2008, 04:11 PM Do you have HPtuners? With stock timing I think you can do a 75 shot with a 2.8 inch pulley.
Thats gets you about 307 whp.
You are going to need to upgrade some pistons before you move to more nitrous than that.

hmm...how long and how often do you spray? and im most likely going to do just the 35 shot, but OCCASIONALLY (thats the plans atleast) a 50 shot...im just to nervous! haha the cars a daily driver and im only 18 so Im limited to what i can afford at one time!!! haha

wow thats insane. its like 4/gallon here i believe...well im going to start peicing it together. im just trying to determine if i should drop down to a 2.7 or not and run the 50 shot. any opinions?

meh, one day it will be turbo'd...then i can enjoy my car w/ less worrying about heat and overspinning a blower.
not to mention that im the type that gets very paranoid...so the rock in charger sound sometimes appears to be getting louder...its just my nature...cant wait to not worry about that, either ;)

Now granted I'm still on a stock motor so to speak (Pulley, injectors,tune, etc) but i've run a 75 shot last summer while racing. that totals to be about 1 to 2 trips to the strip a month. Yes i do plan on doing pistons this summer, their the only thing im truely worrieda bout. I also progressively went from a 50 shot in the beginning for the first few trips then i got ballsy and did the 75 shot for the rest of the time... not that it matters to "Progressively" up the amount but like yourself i was alilttle nervous at first but my brother has run nitrous for many years with all different kinds of set ups so he was there to guide me along my way
