I have a quick question about the l61 internals. I was under the impression that besides the rods and pistons the valvetrain was also pretty weak. So I wanted to ask why it is that JBP doesn't touch the valvetrain at all when they make your a 2.2l mild performance crate that can handle 300+?

I was considering using them for my engine building needs next year and that stood out to me.

The valvetrain just can't handle being reved up to 8K (for example). The power isn't the issue.

I see. But for the record is it still suggested that I improve the valve train when im pushing power around that region?

in order to make seriuos power with the l61 you're gonna need to push the revs up and for that you're gonna need to swap out for better cams, springs and retainers. you can go the cheap route and just do cams but the springs will eventually give out.

well if ur lookin for the BEST reliability over time with power. with engines every component improvement increases longevity and reliability(if done correctly). :)

GM tested the internalls...at 254 hp there was simultanios catastophic (sp<<??) failure on all 4 rods1....
