I have a 08 cobalt xfe and was wondering what the weight of the stock steel 15x6 inch rims are? I was thinking about swapping them with some 15x6.5 Rota slipstreams "12 lbs". These are the best I could find for price per lbs, any suggestions on other rims? I am swapping for fuel economy, thanks in advance.
Not sure of the weight, but I don't think they would be too different. IMO an intake would help you more with mileage.

I don't think you will gain much w/ lighter wheels

Actually, whatever weight you can discard from the car will help. Each one is not a big deal but added up, can make a significant change.
On my 2007 Balt LS , totally base model, I was getting 24-26 mpg in the city. After I took out the spare, and accessories(jack, etc.) my mile age has gone up to 28-29. Its not a whole lot to some people but every little bit helps.
(For those that scream,"What happens when you get a flat?" I mostly travel in the city, so I carry Fix-A-Flat. Also, my insurance has free towing)

I weighed my stock steels about a year ago. I posted the lbs up around here somewhere, if I recall they are about 16 lbs a piece.

If you're that worried about the weight, just throw out the back seat. It's never worth it to throw out your spare, the only time I would throw out the spare is at the track.
Fix a flat is good, but not for driving all day on it.
You'll need to go straight home and grab your spare anyways, think of work!
