The minimum recommended in the manual is 91 or better.. GreenPurgatory 07-13-2008, 02:43 AM hi, im very close to buying a ss/sc cobalt, but was wondering what octane is safe or recommended for this car? sorry if this is in the wrong section I put 91, as recommended. lsjwannabe 07-13-2008, 02:45 AM use 93 its $2 more a fill up not a big deal joemon23 07-14-2008, 03:29 AM most gas stations by me have 91 as the highest Zach06CobaltSC 07-14-2008, 04:02 AM 91 or higher. I recommend 93 if you can find it. If not, use 91 and then get meth injection to make up for the rest and gain you some power and cooling. USMCFieldMP 07-14-2008, 05:02 AM Premium ONLY! All the stations by me have 93. Some even have pump gas. If you have the SS/SC or TC just put premium. The savings with using lower octane fuels will be minimum. If you're considering it, why did you buy a FI car in the 1st place? Dunkinuts 07-26-2008, 01:46 AM if you are really tight on money you can get away with 89 but 91 or better is the way to go. People don't say it because they feel like saying it, they say it because the damn people that built the car said put premium gas in it. They would know. You have had "problems", they just haven't been evident to you; the effects of running 87 in the LSJ have been made clear and are all over the site.
