Gotenks 07-12-2008, 10:54 AM Nice truck... I like everything but the flames.. but to each their own..

R&C_rallySS 07-12-2008, 11:01 AM Well, I always wanted a 1969 Camaro RSSS but I know I can't afford one. I never thought I would be a owner of a Sy because of how limited they are. More limited then even most muscle cars. Right now is a good time to buy a Sy or Ty because of the Econmy. Seems most of the trucks are going for less then they did a few years back. I think that will change though once things get back on track. Blue book value is amazing on these trucks. Lower mile trucks in good cond. are values over 15k.
I plan on keeping this forever and slowly finishing the project. I need bigger injectors, front mount IC, plugs/wires, need to weld a crack in the manifold, paint job, tint windows, get rid of all the unneeded stuff in the engine bay such as heater hoses and plug what I don't use, oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, and another tune. She puts down over 400hp right now.
Nice truck... I like everything but the flames.. but to each their own..

ty, yea I agree. I think without flames is just real nice a clean.
hatrickstu 07-12-2008, 11:03 AM sick truck. get it cleaned up and you will love it 50times more

why would you want to rock slicks when you have a sick awd setup? rock the sleeper-ware as long as possible

boostedss26 07-12-2008, 11:44 AM dude ive wanted a sy for the past 5 years. And as for ghost flames their a big misunderstanding. Ghost flames are not a style of flame, their are when you add pearl lets say black cuz your truck is black and you can only see them from an angle i 'm a painter for a liveing
that's not a stock snail is it?
LaserblueSS 07-12-2008, 11:52 AM wow sick truck bro. i would love to get one of those as a project later in my life. good luck with it man! keep us posted.

IDK where you would get the idea that it would be a stock snail, and they weren't slow stock either.
BTW I used to live near Rhinelander.

DeftonesFan867 07-12-2008, 12:20 PM Both the Syclone and Typhoon (SyTy) trucks featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C 8 cm² turbocharger and Garrett water/air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine. All SyTy's had a 700R4 (4L60) 4-speed automatic transmission. A Borg Warner all wheel drive 1372/4472 transfer case split torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels. Both trucks featured sport modifications to the standard suspensions. The Syclone was the first production truck to receive a 4 wheel anti-lock braking system. Output was 280 hp (209 kW) and 360 ft.lbf (488 Nm). The Syclone, when new, was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 13.4 seconds at 98 mph (153 km/h)

13.4 Stock 1/4th mile times back in 1991 :twothumbs
How long have you owned it? I've tried to find one of those in my budget a few years back but had no luck. Nice car.
I have owned it since April. There are a few Sys out there for sale right now. I was not looking for something mint and in stock form. Those bring top dollar. If your looking for a project with some mods already and want a drag/street truck that is the way to go. If your a collector and want to store it away, get a oringal low mile truck. Just my .02
ls1fbody 07-12-2008, 12:26 PM thats pretty damn fast for a stock truck in '91. clean truck, wasn't always a fan of fast trucks, but they're startign to grow on me. isn't there someone else on here building one?

I can't sleep, just keep dreaming of the day its done. Cosmeticlly and mechanically.
rukkee 07-14-2008, 02:03 AM There were so few of them . I would paint it , and keep it as close to stock as possible. They will be collectors some day. Back in the day the only thing GM had off the lot that could run with those were ZR1's

To be honest, I don't think the ZR1's stood much of a chance. The Syclone outperformed the top turbo ferrari of its time. I have a magazine that compares the two. I should say the ferrari was beat in braking, 1/4th mile, 0-60, and a few other things. The ferrari had a much higher top speed though.
As for keeping it stock, that is already far to late. I going to keep the general concept the same though. Keep it black with orignal stickers. Howl hood with a beefed up motor that came factory. It already has everything forged and a bigger turbo, so there is no going back now.

Did you ever buy that Typhoon Raven?!? You were the one looking at one right? Ohh yea, and you also bought that book off me. Everything work out with that?

My dad's friend has 2 1995 Zr1's one with 20K miles black , and a white one with 2K miles on it . I drove the black one for about 100miles or so and it was sweet. He took them to the track a couple of years ago and they ran 13.1- 13.2's in bone stock condition. I bet they were even better when they were new , these cars don't get driven much and thats pretty hard on a car imho. I'm not sure if the 91's were faster or not , but anyways those trucks were the ultimate sleepers.
Rodimus_Prime 07-15-2008, 08:55 AM Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing, thats going to be a killer!

 You were with me when that late 90s Mustang GT was talking to me about my exhaust. They just looked at me funny when I asked if they wanted to run one. We both got to the light. I told him I would give him a 2 second head start. So the light is about to turn green. I step on the gas and brake so I don't move anywhere. Build about 4-6psi boost. Light turns green, he sees I'm not moving. I say go go go hurry go go. So he launches hard and I let the brake go about 1 second later. Next thing you know I'm at 70mph and hes 3-4 cars back haha. :twothumbs
R&C_rallySS 09-29-2008, 01:38 AM New update:
Buying a new grill since mine has a small crack in it. Over the winter I'm going to do all the prep work for a new paint job. A fiberglass cowl hood and going to keep it black, makes it much easier keeping the oringal color. Going to add extra clear coats for a black mirror like finish.
Also getting ready to get rid of the old style water to air intercooler and going with a bad ass big frount mount Air to Air. Getting bigger injectors (84 lbs injectors) and a better ignition set up. After all this is installed and I get some dyno time. I should see about 500+ on pump has @ 18-20psi and much more on the meth and 22psi. Going to run 4 BFG drag radials on all 4 corners for traction. Going to be some great AWD fun.
When I can afford it, I would like some chrome ZR-1 wheels or Z06s in 17".

roadrage06 09-29-2008, 12:25 PM his isn't pictured in there. it's got a ocmpletely stock black exterior. and by stock I mean that the stock trim is still that ugly greyish black plastic...lol. We'll get that fixed though won't we Roger?

^ ocmpletely huh?
I knew what you meant. Yes, we will fix that. Some people keep them the orginal grey/black plastic color. I would only do that if mine had low miles and was completly original. Those are worth some major cash. I seen one go on Barret Jackson for some major cash. The Malbro red versions sell for half a million or so.
